Now having done the research on the prospective employer company, let's move on to the section on interview questions. The most tricky and the common ones which you face in every interview, we will show you a visual demonstration of how to actually tackle these questions in a practical way, the right as well as the wrong way. Question one, tell me something about yourself, no matter what industry you come from, but this one question is 100% guarantee that you will be asked in each and every interview? And remember that this question and your response to it sets the tone for the interview. Let's take for example, let's say you've applied for a project managers role in the construction industry. So tell me something about yourself.

So I'm from indoor, five years of experience in the project management in the country. industry. I have done my MBA from symbiosis. And I've done my Civil Engineering from hoonah University, who currently have been leading the project of the five star hotel that is coming up in Goa. I've been an outstanding performer with three awards. To my credit in this year.

I really like project management and enjoy working in teams. Recently I've got married, okay, why does this response not have the positive impact that it is expected to have? There are two problems one, you already told everything that is there mentioned in your resume. There's no point is repeating that information. Remember, this is the first question. second problem.

There is no need to mention personal details like you know, what's your wife and children and all that because you hardly have any time and this is the time where you're establishing a rapport with the interviewer. So immediately you got to come to the focus, where you are adding value rather than getting into something which is like cause. So now that we have identified both the problems Let's begin again. So, tell me something about yourself. So project management, my passion and I thoroughly enjoy it, especially in the construction industry where I have broken all records set by the company. Violence My strength is efficiently managing various aspects of the project.

You know, within the time limit and in quality standards, I believe in quality on the basis of the research I did, I understand that you're facing a challenge in terms of, you know, time management, completion of the projects within the time limits and in terms of maintenance of quality. So it seems to be because of ineffective vendor management and motivation levels of the team. I have constantly built excellent relationships with these same vendors by constantly adding value to them, and have also won appreciation from my management as well as my team members for my team management skills. You can also see what my team members have to say about me in the recommendation on LinkedIn, and I can really turn around the situation because your projects have a really good reputation. So let me give you an example of how I have handled a similar situation in the past.

In terms of time management, we were given a project in my current company that was supposed to be completed in 48 weeks, because of my team management skills, because of the way of how I motivated my teams, we could complete it within 45 weeks. And in terms of maintaining quality, I have visited along with my team at every vendor around and we have had a discussion about the quality and we have got the best quality and I have monitored on the site as well. Secondly, I'm very good at mentoring and building teams. You can see that I have built a very strong team wherever I have hope in the past. So your department is facing challenges in terms of retaining the teams that is affecting the performance badly. So what I can do is, I can develop systems and processes and ensure a dramatic improvement in the turnaround time.

I want you to apply this technique to the answers that you will give to this question. And you will see that your approach will make a difference. So what's the learning for us? Learning number one, whatever you describe about yourself, remember, it has to be in relation to that job only. That's how you build a rapport with the interviewer and find the Connect learning number two, no one individual really has about, say all the areas in the job description in equal proportion. As far as the expertise is concerned, there could be eight to 10 to 12 key result areas in the job description, but it's not necessarily that you're good at everything.

What you need to do is pick up just two or three or at best four or five key result areas listed on success stories, matching up to the job description and present them you will immediately find a connect with the interview. Let me display what I mean in these points in a tabular format so that you can use them There you go. So if next time an interviewer asks you tell me something about yourself, you can pick up all these points that I have shared with you, and you will be very confident in answering that question. Now let's take up a very important question which will actually leave you dumbfounded. Why should we hire you? Let's move on.
