Module Two, how do you do research on a prospective employer company? What would you normally do when you want to do a research on a company that you're applying for, or you wanting to send your resume, you would go to the website of the company. Look at your area of expertise. Try and find a match between the job description and your areas of domain, right? And try and prepare yourself for that interview or sending your resume. But is that all that it takes to do the research on employer company?

Hello, and welcome. I'm Sarah. We know that job search can be a very frustrating experience for most professionals, because they don't use innovative or out of the box ways to search for a job. I have devised a job search guidance tutorial called the syrup Jeeves complete job search tutorial spread over 18 in depth videos. And together through these modules we will learn and ensure that you stand out as a candidate so that you can Get that interview call. In the last module, you saw that how we have actually got to attract the attention of a prospective employer.

I hope you applied those steps. In this module, we will see how do you do research, which is the most important step in your job search? Do you remember the guy who used to stand first in your class in school or college? I'm sure you do. That's because he or she used to do an extremely detailed presentation and a lot of homework right? The same thing has to be applied when you as a candidate have to go for an interview, you need to do homework in detail.

You just need to follow the seven power steps and you will find yourself so well prepared as if you are already an employee of the company. Step one is Facebook company page. In today's day and age, it's very simple and easy to access a company page through the social media right? Facebook company pages can give you a lot of customer experience through their comments studied Second, LinkedIn company page and other critical tool. When you go through the company page of LinkedIn, there are two things that you need to look for in this in terms of piece of information. First one is look at the company news.

What are the milestones? What are the achievements? What are the latest updates about the company studied those that will actually give you so much of information about the company as if you're coming closer to being an employee? That's one. The second thing that you need to look at studies, the work culture of the company. How do you do that?

In the company page, there is a section where employees talk about their experience with the company, study that that will also give you so much of confidence that you will be able to crack the interview when you go there. Step three, talk to the retailer or the call center. For example, if you're going for x company, go to the retailer find out from the market what are the challenges the company is facing this very rarely people do. You will get a first hand information about what the cost Students have to say about the product or about the service. You can also call up the call center and see what a customer experiences pose as a customer and find out what is your experience, go beyond the regular homework. Once you start doing that, you will get so much information that in terms of cracking the interview and establishing a rapport with the interviewer, you will be standing out as a candidate.

Step four, his company website. You can go to the company website, which you would regularly do study in detail and try and pick up information which is additional. See, it's important to do that homework and get that cutting edge over other candidates. So as much information as you can get is essential. So the page about about us study about them, study about the founders study about the top management, and you will be better informed. Step five, do a Google search go to the bark of Google and search for company news.

This is again as I mentioned to you that as much detailed homework you do, you get closer to getting that interview call and also For example, if you're going to Tata Motors, try and find out what is the vision of the company, what are the products they are launching, what is the latest happening in that company, there could be a pipeline of products that they have proposed to launch. If you know about them, and you mentioned that to the interviewer, you definitely impressed the interview. Step six, study the job requirements. See, there are always 10 to 12 key result areas mentioned in every job requirement. What you need to do is identify the most important key result areas. Try and find what is the match to your area of expertise.

Once you do that, you should list down examples on each and every area from the job description and your achievements, which you should be able to share in an interview that actually differentiates you as a candidate. For example. Step seven, connect with ex employees. Your prospective employer, people normally refrain from connecting with the ex employees. But you must do that because you can get a lot of information from people who have already left. How do you connect with them through LinkedIn.

In one of my videos, I will show you how to connect with these people. The advantage of using multiple sources that we have explained to you is that you don't leave any stone unturned. Because as much information is you gathered about the pain point the business points about the company, you are far more better prepared and you are confident and you are differentiating yourself as a candidate from others. You get that cutting edge, the source seven power steps to get you closer to that interview call and how by doing research on the company in different and multiple ways. So friends, go ahead and start doing your homework in detail so that you come closer to establishing that rapport with the interviewer. So what are you waiting for?
