DESCRIPTION: There are numerous ways to memorize.
The one that almost all beginning actors choose is rote memorization.
However, this is a mistake.
What happens is you end up memorizing&nbsp;how&nbsp;you say the lines but you&nbsp;don&rsquo;t really know the lines&nbsp;and you are not&nbsp;malleable. That means that if a director wants to see it a different way, you are unable to do so.
I call this canned Inflection.
It&rsquo;s the same performance every time, just like when you pour out the same ingredients in a can of soup.
It&rsquo;s boring, not truthful, preconceived, and not compelling.
What we want is to find truth and spontaneity.
Act: Admit, Connect, Trust.
You are&nbsp;admitting&nbsp;the line, not telling.
You are&nbsp;connected&nbsp;to your character and the story.
Trust&nbsp;you are enough.
The best way to memorize is to &ldquo;grab and go.&rdquo;
You grab the line, lookup with &ldquo;strong eyes&rdquo; and go.
Using the &ldquo;grab and go&rdquo; technique is not about pace.
