DESCRIPTION: Here is a self-tape I made of Kevin&rsquo;s monologue from this is us.
A few things to note.
1) Usually in a self-tape, you are going to have a scene, not just a monologue, and more of an exchange of lines back and forth. I did this because we can kill two birds with one stone. You can see an example of a professional self-tape and also I want you to start looking for the Tiya concepts we&rsquo;ve been exploring &mdash;like flowing emotion and truth and spontaneity in the performance.
2) This self-tape is more geared toward the style of primetime television drama because that is the world that we are in.
If this was for say Nickelodeon or Disney or an ABC sitcom pilot, it would be completely different.
I most likely would stand, the lines would be faster, it would be in a different style, plenty of jokes (which by the way you have to nail&mdash; but still always play the truth), the frame would be wider and I might even suggest something comedic like messy hair, wear a goofy shirt,...
