Chapter 8: Eternal Brahman; Akshara Brahma Yoga

Arjuna begins chapter 8 by asking about Brahman and what happens at the time of death. Krishna explains Arjuna to contemplation on Parameshvara and also the chanting OM as the means to realize Brahman.

Krishna explains the nature of the celestial realms (Lokas) and cosmic time scales (Yugas), and the cycles of birth and death to help Arjuna distinguish between the world of maya or change and the eternal or unchanging Brahman. Brahma-vidyaa, the Ultimate knowledge of Brahman alone brings liberation.

Verse 8: O! Partha, reflecting as he was taught, with a mind endowed with the practice of yoga, with a mind that does not stray to anything else, he reaches the limitless, self-effulgent SELF (Purusha).
