In the previous few chapters Lord Krishna has revealed the Jnana-Yoga as the important path and means to liberation. In chapter 16 and 17 He reveals the values or virtues to be followed by the seekers of liberation. These virtues are to prepare a sadhaka to attain and experience the absolute truth or reality. They prepare the mind to be ready and eligible (adhikari) to receive the Absolute Wisdom known as Atma-Jnana. It is said that Vedic wisdom is a Pramana (source of direct knowledge) for the mind that is ready to receive it.
