The sympathetic nervous state and the parasympathetic nervous state. The sympathetic nervous system state is fight or flight, and the parasympathetic nervous system state is the rest, digest, and heal. It is really important to comprehend these states well, as they are important to feel if your body is stressed or resting. Many of us today are stuck in the sympathetic nervous state which makes us feel stressed, anxious, and even angry because that is what our body is telling the brain. This is not good for the everyday functions of the body and will lead to ill health if not remedied.
