The respiratory system works hard taking around 20,000 breaths daily. Therefore, our respiratory muscles do not have the luxury of being out of shape. We need to constantly strengthen them. Deep breathing really helps with this.
When we breathe deeply, our lungs become more efficient. We can get in the oxygen we need, and expel the carbon dioxide our body doesn&rsquo;t need. Deep breathing can also slow the heart rate down, lower blood pressure and relieve the symptoms of stress and anxiety quickly.
Deep breathing releases toxins from the body more effectively. It is simple mechanics when you think about it.
