The mythical characters of the major arcana. Each card represents a karmic lesson that everyone can learn in life. And the characters assigned to each of these cards can tell us a lot about the ways each card can be interpreted. Major Arcana cards come up to represent major moments in a person's journey in life. I highly encourage you to check out the Wikipedia links that I've provided or you know, go out and get the actual book that comes with the cards and read that too. But I'm going to share some information about each card and character.
Dionysius the fool, he is known as the God of wine and fertility. Wine can certainly lead to fertility. But one can also make us not think about consequences too. We could describe him as being like the free love hippie days of the 60s. He was about freedom of expression celebration. And letting go of the power over them by oppressors.
He's also known as the son of Zeus and for Stephanie, who we will be covering as well. This card represents stepping out into the unknown or taking a chance. Hermes, the magician, he is known as the God of trade, commerce. He was the entrepreneur of Greek mythology. He was the son of Zeus also, Hermes was known for trickery, thievery, and he was the messenger of the gods as well. He was also rumored to trick the gods to help the mortals and vice versa.
He really shows how our choices lead to the happenings in our lives. This card represents choices. Demeter, the Empress she was the goddess of green and fertility. She's basically Mother Earth, giver of life and food. Goddess of the harvest. She was Mother of Stephanie, who we will cover Soon, this card represents nurturing Zeus the Emperor.
He was known as king of the gods or the god of thunder. He was popular for his promiscuity and many children that came of it. He was father to him. Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, PR, Stephanie Dionysus, Perseus, Hercules, Helen of Troy Minos and the Muses. That's a lot. He was a busy guy.
This card represents power over others. Pr Stephanie, the High Priestess. She was the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. She was known for being Queen of the underworld. She was abducted by Hades, who we'll talk about later, who fell in love with her, and she ended up falling in love with him too, and agreed to be his queen. She was also known as the goddess of vegetation.
Like her mother, she's been rumored to be the mother of Dionysus. This card represents intuition. cheer on the hero event. He was known as the most Intelligence Center, which is half man half full of all of them. He was raised by Apollo, who we will speak of soon, and taught all about the art of medicine, Herbes music, and archery. While most centers were known for their lusty and animalistic ways, he was more kind and smart and calm.
This card represents taking good advice or learning from others. Paris, the lovers, just before his birth, his mother had a dream that she gave birth to a flaming torch, which was interpreted to be an omen of the falling of Troy, their homeland. When Paris was born, it was demanded that he be killed to save the kingdom. But his parents couldn't go through with But of course, he ended up falling in love with Helen of Troy. And they eloped. And this is what started the Trojan War.
As prophesized. This card represents emotional choices. Aries the chariot. He's known as the god of war, son of Zeus, known for his warlike qualities. He was a fierce warrior and popular for his unforgiving, brutal ways. He has several lovers, including Aphrodite, the goddess of love.
This card represents being torn between choices. Athena justice she was known as the protector of Athens, where her name probably came from. She was the daughter of Zeus. She was a warrior, but in the sense of protecting, and she helped many of the other heroes such as Perseus and Aphrodite. This card represents fairness. Era Hara temperance.
She was the goddess of family marriage. Women and childbirth. She was one of the wives of Zeus. He had more than one and was known as the queen of Olympus. She was the one that performed marriage ceremonies. She was also very jealous of Zeus as many women and illegitimate children.
This card represents patience. Hercules strength, known for his unimaginable strength, he had many crazy and dangerous adventures such as slaying a lion or a nine headed Hydra monster. They even made a cartoon about him. I remember watching it in the 80s he was a true hero. This card represents bravery. Cronos the hermit he was known as father time.
He is depicted as an old wise man with a long white beard. He was the man that turned the wheel of the zodiac of life. He represented the passing of moments and deep thought card represents solitude and learning as well. More I, the Wheel of Fortune, also known as the three fates, they controlled the threat of life from birth to life to death. They kept an eye on every mortal and made sure the correct fates happened at the right moment. This card represents the ongoing cycle of life.
For me, theists, the Hanged Man, the story of promethium is very much like the story of Jesus. He was known as the god that was a friend to humans. He sold the fire of Olympus and gave it to them so that they could have the power of the gods. He was brutally punished for it by Zeus, until Hercules came and saved him. This card represents sacrifice. Hades, death, he was Lord of the underworld.
He was the brother of Zeus and Poseidon together they will because most Zeus the heavens reside in the sea and Hades, the underworld. Hades fell in love with Stephanie and he kidnapped her. During her capture, she fell in love with him and agreed to be his queen. This card represents facing your darkness. Pan the devil. He was a God of nature, like fields and forests and caves and dancing and performing.
He was known for being associated with shame and fear. The word panic comes from his name. He was a very wild and rested God. Poseidon the tower, he was the God of the sea. His brother Zeus was God of the heavens and his brother Hades was god of the underworld. He had a trident and when he slammed it down, it would create tidal waves or earthquakes and other stormy weather.
This card represents the unexpected Pandora the star she was Created by all of the gods, each giving her a special gift of their own power. She was supposed to be a punishment to the humans for receiving help from promethium. She was known for being very pure, giving, shameless and curious. She opened the box that contained all the evils of humanity. It was said that all that was left was hope, which is what this card represents. hecka tea the moon.
She was a powerful goddess associated with crossroads, entranceways Light and Magic. People would hang shrines in her honor on their doorways for protection against evil spirits. dogs were sacred to her and she was often shown with them. This card actually represents confusion. Apollo the son, he was known as the God of music, truth in prophecy, healing, the sun and light medicine and healing were associated. With Apollo, but so was sickness.
He was a protector of those who needed it such as refugees and children, plants and animals. He was the God that helped those in need and scared away evil. This card represents standing up to bullies Hermes judgment, Hermes, was what was called a psychopomp, which is a spirit that helps guide the newly deceased to the afterlife. Some examples of this would be angels or the Grim Reaper. He was depicted as animals a lot such as deer, horses, dogs, and all kinds of birds. It was thought that seeing these animals was a message from the deceased.
This card represents self reflection, or judging others. And lastly, we have hermaphrodite is the world. He was the son of Aphrodite and Hermes, and was intersex, both male and female. He represented androgyny And because of this, he was the God of unions like marriage and also fertility. He was depicted as having a female body and male genitals. When two opposites come into a balance, it creates infinity.
This card represents that life never ends.
