All right, we are in Section four now. And we're going to start talking about high performance and time management. How can you get the results from yourself that you want? And a lot of this is now going to dive into our process focus. We're going to get into focusing on actions, not outcomes. And I'll explain to you what that means and what it means to focus on the process, not the outcome or the result at the end.
I saw an interview recently with Nick Saban, who is one of the arguably one of the greatest college football coaches of all time. And, you know, he said, if you're always focused on the result, you're gonna drive yourself crazy. And I thought it was such a breath of fresh air, especially in today's landscape in sports, where it's win or get fired. If you look anywhere on social media. anywhere around, you know, the spaces that we're in. It's all about, you know, results, what have you done success and post this thing on social media and do this and do that.
And, you know, nobody celebrates showing up and doing the boring, monotonous, tedious stuff every single day. But in reality, those are the things that lead to our successes. And we have to have the discipline to stay focused on those things, those actions, and not be constantly caught up in the results and showing the wins and the victories. Yes, those are the things that get the likes and the celebrations in the pat on the back. But they only occur if we've done the work if we've been prepared if we've done the reps. And that's what the process is all about. So focusing on those things, prioritizing those things, showing up and doing those things on a daily basis is what creates a culture of you a culture that brings you the results in the success Not because you chase them or pursue them, or focus on them, but because you do the things required to get those results, that goes back to act as if act as if you already are a person who gets those results, right.
What does it take to get those results show up to work? And so, you know, in theory, this is, it's simple, but it's not easy. And I use those words specifically, because if you haven't heard this lesson, simple merely implies that something is not complicated. Easy implies that it doesn't require a lot of effort, right? So what we're talking about here isn't complicated. It's not some fancy, complex, undulating program that takes a computer model to figure out how to do it, where to be and what to do on any given day, you know, what needs to be done?
We all do. It's just Can you show up and do it? And that's not always the easiest thing in the world, right? So that's we mean when we say simple but not easy. And so, to wrap up this intro video here for Section four in high performance time management, I just briefly want to talk about the difference between peak performance and high performance. And I'm calling this high performance, I want you to be a high performer, I want you to be a high performer, I do not want you to be a peak performer.
By definition, anything that has a peak, you know, if this is our graph, and we go this way, then we have a peak, what happens after the peak? It has to go down. Right that that is, by definition, what a peak is. And, you know, I'm fortunate to work with a lot of law enforcement or special forces, military operators. And, you know, these are our demographics that can't afford to have a bad day. You know, they can't afford to peak today or peak for this mission right now.
But what happens if you have to go back out on a call in four hours or in six hours Do you have to be at your best tomorrow? No, my wife is a Doctor Who, every single day somebody's life is in her hands. She can't peek today and then be shitty as hell tomorrow, right? Like how do we elevate our baseline so that every day is high performance, right? We're not chasing this peak and trading today for a shooting tomorrow. I see that as I want to say a flawed.
It I just I see a lot of people chasing peace and the only way I could describe it is trading are great today for a shitty tomorrow. And I've seen over time that that leads to burnout. It's just not the way that we want to go. So in life is chaotic. It's unpredictable. The question is, will you be ready?
And ready for what right? We don't know. So this is where all the skills, all the tools, all the assets come into play. You know, do we have this Arsenal that we can turn to and employ but also will we have The energy and the bandwidth to be able to show up for the people that matter in the way that we need to and want to for them, whether that's our families, our businesses, our clients, our customers, whatever. And if we're coming down off of one of those peaks, then you know, we're putting ourself in a situation where the answer to that question might be no. And so that's why I want to focus on high performance, how do we get our worst?
Let's elevate the baseline and make sure that our worst will never be below this, right. Alright, so we're wrapping that up. This is going to be the end of this video. See in the next video, where we're going to start to talk about what it is that you want, why you want it. Now we're going to start digging into some of those deep internal commitments of ours. So see in the next video,
