All right, we're in section three. And now we are talking leadership. So sometimes I have to hide the topic of leadership and kind of bury it in conversations about personal responsibility. A lot of individuals shy away from thinking of themselves as leaders. And if you're here, if you're taking part in this course, if you're investing in yourself, and you're building or creating something, make no mistake about it, you are a leader, there are people looking at you watching you and thinking of you as a leader. And this actually rolls right into one of the things that we'll talk about with leadership.

And that is that we don't get to pick when, who and how when we get to pick out what we don't get to pick when and who we lead. We never know who was watching. If you're a parent, or if you have kids, if you know somebody who's a parent, you know very well That kids learn more from watching what we do than we could ever teach them by what we say. So if you're a parent, you know that you are always leading, always teaching them. And for all of us in this personal leadership, conversation, it's about leading ourselves first, right? And that's why we that's why I always hide it in the personal leadership, conversation.

Because if you think about and this is actually going to be the exercise that we do at the end of this video, if you think about the qualities of a great leader, whatever they might be discipline, consistency, inclusion, compassion, empathy, whatever, they're very likely the same qualities that we want to see an exhibit in ourselves. And that's why this conversation always starts with personal your show. So if we can't lead ourselves, Why the hell would anybody follow us? If people are following you, it's because they're looking at you. And seeing you demonstrate the ability to lead yourself whether it is to lead yourself to start a business to write a book to, you know, follow a diet plan, follow an exercise plan, whatever it is that people look to you for guidance in, you're clearly demonstrating the ability to lead yourself in that area. Now, remember our 360 degrees sphere from earlier?

How we do anything is how we do everything. are you leading yourself to your full capability in every area of your life? I'm willing to bet if we're honest, objective and audit ourselves, we'll find areas where we could be better leaders of ourselves. And so that's really the conversation that we're having here. So a couple of basics on leadership, lead ourselves for Right, lead always because like we said earlier, we don't get to pick when we lead people are always watching us. Leadership is not situational.

Great leaders are always leading. Have you ever seen a great leader say, Oh, well, for the next three hours, I'm not going to be a leader. I'm just going to take the next three hours off. Right? great players don't take plays off. You know, imagine if Michael Jordan or Tom Brady said, You know what, I don't care about the Super Bowl this week, or I don't care about game three of the NBA Finals, I'm going to take the game off.

Leadership is an energy it's not a title. It's not a position. Don't wait to be ordained or anointed a leader. If you want to lead yourself you don't need permission to do that lead yourself. People will begin to recognize that and follow that. Leadership is an energy it's an energy of trust, respect, humility.

So it's an energy of serving others. So I like to think of leadership as an exercise in self mastery, mastery of self first so that we can then serve others. You know, and in doing that, becoming better, allows us to do more and to do better for others. That's the whole be better do better tagline for better human project. And we'll talk about this in an upcoming video where we talk about how leaders set the ceiling. But I don't want to get too far ahead of myself.

So again, it's an energy, it's not a position, don't wait to be ordained, don't wait to be given a title. And what I want you to do now is you're going to go to the next page in your workbook I showed you this just a second ago. And as we wrap up this video, your exercise is going to be to spend a few minutes before you watch the next video to write down the qualities that you recognize. In great leaders, when you think about the leaders that you aspire to emulate the leaders that you learn from maybe you've read leadership books, maybe you watch sports, maybe, whatever it is, whoever the people are, whatever the words are that come into your head, I'd say spend three to five minutes, you should be able to, in one column, fill this page, you know, top to bottom. When we do this in a workshop, I just have people shout it out, and I write it on a whiteboard, and we fill the whiteboard.

So what I want you to do is, you know, see if you can get 15 or 20 words on here. All right, I'll see you the next video.
