Alright, so as we transition from the last video fear versus anxiety into this video, In this video, we're going to define your values. And I'm going to give you one of my favorite exercises to make sure that your actions are aligned and reflect those values. But before we do that, one question for you as a thought exercise to wrap up that last thought, from the previous video on fear and anxiety, when you audit your actions, when you look at how you move through life, in all of your relationships, in your professional pursuits, in your personal pursuits, everything you do ask yourself, are you acting out of fear? Or are you acting out of love? And what would be really interesting is to look at synonyms for those words, fear and love and see where they show up in your hiring. Level lower level thinking.

Right? I promise you, that the version of you that you want to be the version of you that you were before the distractions and interference and trauma was very much rooted in love, love for yourself a functional self love, love of whatever your pursuit is love of others. And somewhere, all of us, to some extent, gets shifted into acting out of fear, or being molded or shaped by fear and anxieties and that lower level thinking, so, simple question. I asked myself this all the time, I think it might be an exercise that helps you am I acting out of love or am I acting out of fear? It's just a great reminder to center yourself in love, act out of love. And speaking of acting, act as if so if you've read the book, fuck your feelings.

There's a section of the book where I talked about my high school basketball coach. He used to tell us Fake it till you make it and I freaking hated hearing that I never got it I thought it was stupid. Only as I've gotten older have I realized that it's it's not about faking it and trying to make other people believe something that isn't us it's about understanding the power of our own mind and doing what we have to do in our own mind to show up as the version of us that we want to be. And so I call this act as if I don't think there are the negative stereotypes or were negative connotations around act as if that exists around fake it till you make it so act as if is simply a reminder to us all that the fastest way to become the version of us that we want to be is to act that way right fucking now.

What is stopping you right now from acting like that version of you? The answer is either nothing or you. And if the problem is you, that's great news because that means you're also the solution. So act as if act as if you were that version of you. Think about whatever scenario or pursuit you want to apply this to think about a hero or somebody that you would like to emulate a great leader. How would that person handle this scenario?

How would that person handle that tough conversation that you had last week? How would that person handle the thing that you have on your to do list that you're putting off? How would the ultimate version of you handle that? start acting that way? Now, that's the whole point of this act as if exercise. There's nothing stopping us except ourselves, right?

You're the problem. You're the solution. We're the problem or the solution. So here's what we're going to do. This is define your values. So what we're going to do is We're gonna go back to the workbook and on this page that says, act as if act as if you already are that version of you act according to your values, right?

You can just read that every single day if you need to, until you get right part of fake it till you make it right. Just keep reading this until you are that version of you. You act that way every single day. All right. I've had too much coffee. I'm a little bit excited.

I hope you're excited. Hit pause, and I want you to list your values. Right? And, and make this real. Don't don't write words that you think other people want to hear. You're doing this at home, you're not in a workshop, so you don't have to worry about that.

But if you struggle to come up with your values, a great way to identify what's important to you, is to think about the things that piss you off. So I think we can all agree that we hate it when Individuals are rude to people that they can be rude to a barista or a waiter. Right? We can't stand rude. Well, the opposite of rude would be kind, right? So, so if we get agitated when we see someone being rude, then kind or kindness is a value of ours, right?

So think about the things that matter most to you think about the things that anger you and go the other way. Hit pause, take some time, two or three minutes at least, and write down I want you to get at least eight to 10 values in this section right here. So hit pause, and I'll see you on the other side of the pause. Okay, so now, from your values, we're going to go on this side, and I want you to write down who you are. Who are you? Right?

If I'm saying this about me, who is Ryan Muncie, what do I stand for? What do I stand against? What do I love what matters to me? What I want my legacy to be all of these things, right? Think about those and write them down here. Hit pause, I'll see you on the other side of pause, again, take about two or three minutes.

I'm not going to give you a minimum on this one, this is just kind of whatever you want to do. All right. So now, the final part of this exercise, I want you to think about the three words that you want other people to use when they talk about you. Think about the people in your life who would describe you in a certain way. How do you want them to describe you? What three words would you like people to use?

If they had to describe you, you can either write them down as three new words, or you can look up here and your values and pick three of your values. Right? And then what we're going to do is we're going to take those three words We're going to set an alert on our phone. So every single day at 11am, I have an alert or an alarm that goes off on my phone. And it simply asks me a question in all capital letters, am I being that person? And then it has my three words.

So every single day, I'm getting a reminder to act as if I'm getting a check. I'm checking myself, I'm checking in, I'm auditing. I'm challenging myself, right? Are you being that version of you? So you can steal that if you want, you can set it at 11am. You can set it at 7am.

Whatever time works for you. Just go into your alerts, turn it on, make it repeat every 24 hours. And just ask yourself that question. Am I being nap version of me? Right? This is such a beautiful and easy way to leverage technology leverage our phones to serve as a reminder to us to act according to our values, not our feelings, right?

Scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest or Facebook. Now what's gonna serve us and help ground us and bring us back to the version of us that we want to be? Right. And so that's what it always comes down to how do we spend our time? What are our choices? Are we acting according to our values?

This exercise, I promise you, we'll help you do that.
