All right, so we just talked about how awareness creates choice, the more awareness we can bring to our lives as a whole, and to any given situation. The more and better choices we are afforded, how we feel, how we behave, what we attract, and what we're attracted to. As well as the meaning that we assign to things right, this all of this is crucially and critically important to actualizing and realizing the life that we want for ourselves and being the version of us that we want to be. So one quick detour on fear and anxiety. So there are actually going to be two bonus podcast episodes that you can listen to down below bhp shorts, one of them on fear versus anxiety, the other one on how To overcome fear and anxiety, featuring three different navy seals, giving their advice and input on how they overcome fear and anxiety because spoiler alert, even those guys are not fearless.
So the message here and the lesson that I think is vitally important for all of us to understand is the difference between fear and anxiety. Fear is the presence of a threat. So if we use the analogy of the snake on the path from the previous videos, if the snake is there, and we're afraid that's fear. If we're on a walk through woods, and there are no snakes present, it's anxiety. Right? The threat is not actually there.
And so, as you listen to the the bhp short fear versus anxiety, the question that I posed to you is how are each of these things impacting your life, fear and anxiety when you think about your own fears, or most likely your own anxieties How is the lack of a presence of the threat? Meaning that it's anxiety negatively impacting you? Are you letting your actions your life be dictated by your feelings, your anxiety over something that isn't even real or isn't even there? So think about that. I'm going to give you one quick study, I'm going to share with you a quick study. So why do you think about that I want to share with you quickly a study that fascinates me.
So fear and anxiety not only impact and condition, others But can actually have negative impacts on our offspring, and the people in our social networks and social circles. In this study that we're going to mention, researchers exposed rabbits to a threat and then measured their reproduction after exposure to the threat. Now, if you thought the survival of your species was at risk, the logical answer, or logical action response would be to increase your reproduction so that you have more babies, thereby increasing the chances of survival for your species. You're with me? Okay. Guess what the rabbits did.
They reproduce less 40% less after being exposed to the threat. So what we see From this, what we learned is and this is fascinating to me because rabbits are well known for their reproductive prowess, right? They're actually like the analogy or the example, for somebody who reproduces a lot. Yet, we saw a 40% reduction in reproduction after exposure to the threat. So rather than do the logical OR rational thing, they were guided by emotions, feelings, fears, anxiety, and they made the wrong choice. So, audit your actions, audit your fears, audit your anxieties, and see if you can identify places in your life where you are acting, choosing and deciding based on threats or fears or anxieties, and actually making a choice that is not aligned with your values making an irrational or illogical choice, right.
Fuck your feelings. See the next video
