This video, we're going to have a couple of different segments where I have you pause the video, fill things in, and then resume the video. We've got a couple of things to work through here, all within this same module. So let's get started. The first thing I want you to do is on this page that is labeled strengths and weaknesses. I want you to pause this video, I'll tell you when. And you're simply going to list five or 10 of your strengths and five or 10 of your weaknesses.

Okay. Think about the things that make you you think about the value that you can add. Think about the things that people compliment you on the things that people offer to pay you to do for them. Are you a coach, do you? How do you help people what is the value that you can add? What makes you unique, right?

And then when you finish this, you're going to hit resume on this video and We'll pick right back up. So pause it now. All right, hopefully, you're back. You've got five or 10 on the strengths, five or 10 on your weaknesses. So my question for you now, as you look at this list of your strengths and weaknesses, I want you to identify where you think your largest opportunity for growth lies. Where's your largest opportunity for growth as you look at this list?

Okay, so whatever you have in your head is your answer. Hold on to that. And now we're going to talk about the quadrants of competency. And if you haven't seen this before, this is such an extremely valuable lesson. There's a couple of different ways we can break this down. But I want you to think of this as factory, right?

So if we went from left to right, it goes ship suck, good, great. Ship suck good, great. And everything kind of goes in this cyclical little pattern. And for every single thing that we can name, squatting, cooking, business relationships, communication, leadership, we all exist somewhere on this spectrum between shuts up good and great, right. And it's such a useful visual to be able to kind of plot this is where I am right now, in my journey. In this area of life.

I may be here and cooking or squatting. But I might be here in communication or leadership. It doesn't mean I'll always be there. It just means that that's where I am and if I want to move towards this end of the spectrum, then I need to learn some things and I need to get good Quality reps, so that I can move in that direction. So, back to our quadrants here, this quadrant, so anything in the bottom is going to be things that we are incompetent and anything at the top is competent, right? So quadrants of competency in competent, competent.

So in this call, square quadrant, we are unconsciously incompetent. That means we suck at it, but we don't even know we suck at it. in this quadrant, we are consciously incompetent means we suck at it. And we know we suck at it, or it's a weakness or we're not good at this thing. And we know that we're not good at it. If we move up here, we're now competent.

But we're still conscious, right? We have to be conscious, we have to think about the thing in order to do it right or to do it well. Right And then finally, we move into unconscious competency, meaning we are so good at this thing. We can do it with our eyes closed, we don't even have to think about it. Right? We all have things that we are unconsciously competent in, right?

This is this is your absolute wheelhouse. Okay? You can nail this, right? So what I want you to do is you're going to pause this video, and I want you to plot your strengths and weaknesses. So the things that you wrote down on this page, I want you to write them down within their respective quadrant, right? So your strengths should go up here, right?

Your weaknesses, you're going to put in the right square. Now, pause the video, write them down, and I'll see you on the other side of the pause. Alright, now that we're back I want to know if this square Your paper is still empty. Because it should be, you should not have anything written in this square. Now, maybe you realize this, maybe you haven't realized it yet. But by definition, anything that you wrote down as a weakness is something you know you struggle with.

Meaning that you are consciously incompetent at that thing. The things in this square the things that we don't even know, we suck at, by definition, these are our blind spots. So these are the things that we need mentors and guides and coaches and friends to point out to us, like, Hey, dude, you're making this mistake, and you don't even know you're doing it. Right? These aren't blind spots. And by definition, these are our largest opportunities for growth.

So when I asked you that question earlier, it was a little bit of a trick question. Our largest opportunities for growth are usually out of blind spots. And that's it. This quadrant, okay? My goal is to help you identify throughout this course some of those blind spots and to help you move in this cyclical form or fashion or pattern to move from shift and suck, unconsciously or consciously incompetent, moving more into competent and the things that you want to be competent in, right? You're going to turn the page one more time, and we've got opportunities for growth, right?

I want you to think about your strengths. I want you to think about your weaknesses. Where are your largest opportunities for growth? How can you use what we've just discovered, to dig deeper into your strengths and weaknesses?
