We're going to talk about how to create a free principle. I do a lot of this on my blog. And I find that it's a lot of fun to be able to just give free stuff away. So we are going to go through the steps on how you can do this as well, especially if you're using your own artwork or your own design. It can be fun to see it out in the world. So you want to go to create a design.
And then we're going to scroll down to the US letter since usually, when you create a principal, it's eight and a half by 11. So we're going to use the that size. So when you're creating a principal, you have to keep in mind that it has to be something that you personally own because you're giving it away for free. So you want to make sure that you don't run into any copyright problems from anyone else's work. So whether it's a calendar or a piece of art or just a positive saying, you want to make sure you give credit where credit is due, especially with quotes But if you're going to use the background, if someone else's work, then you definitely have to get permission first. So what we're going to do is go to uploads to upload a new image for the background.
So I haven't saved in a folder I call backgrounds. I like to keep some handy for when I'm feeling creative and want to make something new. And I'm going to go with this one. So when you click on it, you'll see that it uploads right to your library. And you can see over here, it's in the process of uploading, but you could probably use it now. Yep, just click on it and it pulls it right into your workspace.
So what I do is just pull it so that it's covers the entire workspace. You can always use a filter on it to change it up a little if you're not happy with it. So you just click on filter and it gives you all these different options. And you can just click through to see if any Kind of excite you, changes the entire vibe of the picture. And you could see you could change the intensity. And as you change it, it creates a very specific filter down here.
So you can click on Advanced Options and even get more ways to change the picture, which means you can take one picture and apply so many different filters and make it completely different and use it many times. So that's just something to think about when you're playing around with different visual images. Next thing we're going to do is add a quote, we're gonna add some text scopes to the textbox. And I just clicked add subheading and I already copied a quote that I like, so I'm just gonna paste it in. In a world where you can be anything, be yourself feel like I like to make inspirational principles because then people can print them out and use them, you know, maybe where they will work or see them when they first wake up. So I'm just going to change the, say we'll change the font.
So I'm going to use, I use Sanchez a lot, which I like and then I'm going to bump up the size. Let's say 64 is pretty good. And then I'm just going to highlight the author and Ctrl X to cut that out. So I'm going to put that on a separate line. I'm going to take out the quotes too, because everyone will know it's a quote when you have a author, and then I'm going to Ctrl V, that's paste and put that in, make it a little smaller. I also want to make this a little closer together.
The line height, there's a lot of space in between each line. So I'm going to just kind of scrunch that up just a little bit. Just whatever you're comfortable with. And then what I'm going to do is I am going to take yourself out of there and put it in different, a different font. So again, Ctrl x, and then I'm going to add another text box and then Ctrl V paste it in there and put that right underneath and I'm going to make it like a script. I like Sacramento.
It's very small. So we're gonna bump that up a lot. It's a little bit of a different size script. So you can go a little bigger world, we can be anything, be yourself, and then pull that down. Maybe we'll just push it up a little. And then right there.
And then I like to add a border to my principles. Just to kind of give it a little I don't know definitive feeling to it. And if you don't like the color that it comes up, you can just click on the color box and click on the plus sign and it gives you all the different colors, you can kind of just pull the mouse around and see all the different colors that come up, see what catches your eye will do a little pink, they're a little purplish pink. So it's not a real pronounced border, but it gives a little something and you can always change the I'm just going to push this towards the back so it doesn't keep highlighting it. You can always change the text color too. We can just highlight the text and change it to white.
That kind of bumps off a little more off of the page. I can make this a brighter That blue kind of blends in. But you know, you just play around with whatever, whatever excites you. And then the last thing I do is I always brand my principles. So I'm going to add a textbox and then pull it down to the very bottom. Just put in Stephanie Martel calm and you could put that in any.
I like to kind of make it an understated color so it's not obnoxious, but that people can see it. So that's kind of good. That blends in a little bit. Just going to change this to a little bit of a nicer pink. I can't really see that. Good.
Just make it white for now. And that's it. So that is something very simple to do. You can change the background, you can add a different symbols, whatever you feel like doing. But then what you do is you save it. So this is we'll just call this free printable File, Save, all changes are saved.
And then all you do is download and you're going to do PDF print, so that when you download it, you can print it and it'll come out beautifully. And when you download, it will say whether or not you have free elements or paid elements and there it is right in the lower corner. So that is your free principle.
