Welcome to the module on how to create a basic graphic for your website or blog. This is a great way to start with Canva, because it's going to give you some of the basics on how to create your own designs in the future. So what we're going to do is login. And then you're going to want to find blood graphic, we're going to click on that. And these are all of the templates and the layouts that they give you. Again, if you look for the free, you can use all the elements in there for free, you don't have to pay anything.
But if you find one that you like that has the dollar sign in the corner, there are going to be some elements in that that you're going to have to pay for. So starting out, I would suggest to just play around with the free templates, too, so that you can get an idea of your style and what you like to do with the different designs. And then you can get a little more complicated by paying for some elements if that's what you Choose to do. I still after using Canva all this time, I use only the free elements and I find that I never run out of ideas. So we're going to use this layout today. And it looks like a really nice thing for writing but not exactly for what I'm going to do, which is my favorite top 10 art tools.
So what I'm going to do is do a little search for paintbrush, just to get some pictures that may be surrounded around art. So here we go. Here's a free one someone painting so that's perfect. So I'm just going to click on that and bring it right into the frame. Now when I clicked on it, it brought it over into the workspace. And then when I just kind of clicked on it and pushed it up with my mouse, it went right into the frame.
So it really does a lot of the work for you. Okay, so not so crazy about the color of this box and it's a little big. So I'm going to pull it down, see a little more of that photo in the background. And then it also has a outline box here, I'm just going to click on it and bring it down as well. So I'm going to replace this by clicking on the text box, highlighting it and then right in my top 10 art tools. This has a little subheading, so I'm going to click on that and you can delete any boxes by just clicking on it.
And then going over here to the delete button and get rid of that. And then I'm just going to bring this down a little, just click on it and pull it down. And as you do that, you can see there is a little line that appears that shows you the middle of the design. So you want to use that when that appears that shows you that you've centered your design, which is a huge help. So I'm still going to pull this down a little looks a little big. Maybe I'll do that, and then click on this and bring it down a little more.
So we could see a little more of that picture. And it gives people a better idea of what my post is about. And then I'm going to change the color of the background by going up here and picking a color. When you click on this plus it brings up the color palette. You can create any color that your heart desires from this little widget here. So I'm going to pick a go a little light, I like a little light pinkish.
Seems pretty good right there. And then it shows right there. The next thing I'm going to do is highlight the font and change it, because I don't really love that font. So maybe I'll do Piru. I like that one. And then I'm going to make the font black by clicking on the color.
And there's the black. And then I just center it. So there is a basic graphic, how easy was that? There are so many things you can change. You can change the background picture, you can change the different fonts, you can actually create another text box, which is another check I'll show you. You can highlight this and delete it.
And then what you do is come over here to the text add another text Pull it down here. And maybe we'll make this one Sanchez. That's another one I use. And we're gonna say, our tools. Let's just see what size This one was my top 1062. Okay, so then we're going to click on art tools, and we'll make that 62.
And then there you go, you have a little bit of a varying font going on there, creates a little more interest for your reader. So then what we do now is I like to go up and do a File, Save. And up here it says, All Changes saved, and then I will download it. I'll use PNG. So that's an easy file format to use and down Download it. And then it'll tell you here when you're downloading whether or not you have to pay for elements, but you'll already know by the dollar sign of the layout that you've chosen.
And there it is. And then you just double click it and save it to the location on your computer or wherever you want to save it. You can save it to Dropbox, or whatever you want. But let's just click on it and take a peek at it, see how it came out. There it is my top 10 our tools. One thing you also can do is close this.
If you want to edit it, you can always go back to it and then we want to add our website into it right? Because what's the point in putting a blog graphic on without putting your website so I'm gonna put Stephanie Martell calm and I'm going to use Sanchez again, just to be consistent You don't want to use too many different fonts to make it confusing for the reader. And I'm gonna come over here just to kind of blow it up a little so I can see. There we go. There's that middle line that it shows it's centered. I always use that it's really easy.
And now I'm going to just there's the middle line again. There we go. So now we have everything centered, and we rebranded with the website, which is great. So now I'm going to go File, Save. All changes are saved and we can download again. So the great thing about this is once everything is saved, and you close out, so you close out your graphic and you go to all your designs.
Here it is. The picture isn't showing up because it hasn't loaded from Canva yet, but then you can always go back and re edit it if you wanted to change something and there's our most recent change. So there is a basic blog graphic
