Okay, so this is libsyn, what you're going to need for all of your podcasts is basically a host to be able to deliver this content. I know you're thinking, well, Zack, I already have a hosting for my website, why can't I use that there is actually a different type of hosting for your audio files. So that way, it's more, how should I say the content delivery of it is more rapid and efficient. And it can also be sometimes syndicated to multiple networks at once. So that's kind of one of the things that you need to keep in mind. Oftentimes, if you end up hosting your podcasts on your own website, it's going to get messy if you have just a few thousand plays on something that maybe is 10 or 15 megabytes large, then you're going to have a few 1015 gigabytes worth of data end up getting consumed.

So you need to keep all of that in mind. And that can really rack up on hosting fees. That's why kind of this these types of networks. are the best to have. Now, I'm going to start with libsyn. I have one other alternative, although there were really dozens out there, I use my alternative, but Lipson is probably the number one go to.

So I'm going to talk about that first, plans and pricing started currently $5 per month that's very inexpensive. I'm going to quickly click into this so that way, you can see that $5 per month means their monthly storage is only 50 megabytes. 50 megabytes isn't a lot of data. Like I said, you need to make sure that your files are small. So we're gonna go into how to compress them when we're editing, especially if we end up using something like audacity is a free tool editor for mp3. So that way, you're literally taking advantage of all of that compression.

So you don't, you know, basically use up that 50 megabytes of storage from five or maybe seven podcasts. The next thing that I use outside of libsyn and I'm just going to quickly show you how to sign up for it. Alright. And then obviously you got to sign up with your PayPal anything cetera libsyn Classic, your short URL which you're going to use, you know, my maybe Zach Miller podcast. So I'm going to do something like that I'd fill this information in, I'll maybe pay by PayPal, etc. They have any promo codes, you can always check that by typing Lipson coupon, most of the times they don't for their $5 a month plan.

So you just basically sign up like that. Uploading is as simple as following the instructions once you're inside your dashboard. The alternative that I use is SoundCloud and uploading is about the same on libsyn as it is inside of SoundCloud. I'm just going to quickly give you A preview of what it is inside SoundCloud. There you go, click to choose and upload your file. Once you do that, it's going to ask you to put in a title, potentially a description.

And that's about it, you're up and ready and rolling. So when it comes to the plans, the nice thing about SoundCloud and why I prefer it is because I number one don't want to compress my data. I want it to be kind of large in a sense. The reason being, is I want to keep all of the quality sometimes in compression, you can lose sound bytes or sound quality. Oftentimes, we try and keep as much of the quality as you can while compressing it. But I don't want to do either of those things.

What I do is I use the pro Unlimited, which again, allows me to basically upload without limits I can go in I've already uploaded more than probably a dozen hours worth of my podcasts, especially if you have longer podcasts, you know, if you go for the pro for $7 a month, six hours of time A lot when you're a podcaster Reason being, you may end up using that up in the course of a week, one hour a day, you're doing a podcast seven days a week, by the end of the week, you're all filled up. So I go with the pro unlimited $15. Again, it's a little bit more. But when you compare the base price between the pro and the base price for the Lipson classic, they're pretty comparable. The thing is, with the Lipson classic, you're probably not going to get seven hours of material or sorry, six hours of material.

Out of that you're probably going to end up probably maxing out somewhere between the four and four and a half hour mark with 50 megabytes. So another reason why I chose this even to start. One of the other fun things is is when you have SoundCloud you can actually if you have a WordPress website, utilize plugins that will rip your entire library from your SoundCloud. You place it on your website, just like you have your SoundCloud in Inside your website to play, and you just say, Listen to my podcast and have a page like that. So it's really cool, really awesome. And it integrates a lot better even then libsyn or Lipson.

So that's what I use, you kind of got to get that type of hosting, in order to make sure that you're not really beating down on your hosting, especially if you have a really cheap hosting plan, like maybe a shared hosting plan, or, as they call it, a baby hosting plan from Hostgator one on one or GoDaddy, those are going to get eaten up, boom, just like that. They're going to cut off restrict you slow down your download speeds, your website loads, speeds, that decreases your sales because the longer it takes for your website to load, the more people that go. I'm not waiting for this, and they just leave. So again, make sure that you're hosting this stuff kind of off site just like the YouTube videos. When you have a video, you're going to be hosting that on YouTube, you're not going to host on your own website, because that can eat up a lot of your hosting data.

You don't want to pay hundreds or even Thousands a month for you know, all your YouTube and all your audios. Just get this pay a few you know YouTube's free, but pay 15 bucks a month, and then you're gonna save so much more on your hosting, I had a private VPS that I was paying $170 a month for through hostgator. And it still couldn't even keep up with my loads when I had my own internal videos and my podcasts hosted through their hosting that private dedicated server VPS I forget which was now but when I did that, again, I would still end up having crashes and they would like have to limit my my download speeds and my uploads so I couldn't get as many people served in as much time as usual. And then I had huge bounce rates and people would leave and I ended up making less money and it was terrible.

And then for 15 bucks, boom, all of that was solved. uploaded all my videos to YouTube. no looking back. So it was a lot a lot of hard work to understand. This is just a simple choice you need to make for your future as a podcaster
