Okay, so one really create tool that I use for recording and you can use it for streaming as well is called OBS which stands for Open Broadcaster Software or streamer if you get the full or Vegas paid edition. To me, what I have to say about this is that is truly a godsend. When I found this software I was previously using Camtasia. Before Camtasia, I could go through a whole list of a dozen other software's I tried to use to record and to edit and OBS really makes everything so simple and easy. Now when it comes to editing, there's other tools that I suggest you could use. But as it comes for streaming and the ability to ease of use change between, you know, just a webcam, or here we want to show the webcam and also the screen or maybe just the screen only either way, there's a So many ways that we can utilize OBS, and it makes it so quick to change these things out on the fly.

So I'm going to go through, what you want to do is go into Google, enter in just OBS, and it should come up Open Broadcaster Software. downloads should be one of the things that naturally is there. Once you click on that, you're going to be taken to a page where it's going to ask you somewhere, you know, are you going to be on a Mac or Linux or Windows, just download the installer, click Yes, etc. Then what's going to happen this is going to boot up so I'm going to transfer just to my webcam Pretty cool, right that's on the fly. And I'm going to go through the settings because the settings are extremely pertinent to you actually getting a good stream, a good record, and something that's going to turn out again, good high quality videos, which is usually how you deliver products, or at least promote yourself in the very least.

So there's so many ways no matter what you're doing video for. It's important of course the outcome The output is good. So go into your settings right down here. And we're going to start from the top and work all their way to the bottom. So from here, language is probably going to be the default, I always say yes, I want to check for those updates. And I do show confirmation dialog when starting and stopping streams.

The reason being is if my string goes down, you know, or I happen to accidentally hit a button that puts me into a live stream, I want to be told that that's occurring, then what's going to happen is I'm just going to hide the cursor over projectors. So if you do this in a presentation form, then it doesn't actually get in the way when you're working that. So go into the stream. There's multiple streaming services that you can actually choose from either being YouTube or it being and I apologize, I almost forgot that you guys can't see. There we go. We'll just go to just the settings.

Let me go through the general Again, automatically check for updates, show the dialog Yes, and then hide the cursor over projectors. So those are the four options you'll turn on. Everything else should be default, naturally set up the way it should be any streaming services, you can actually look up how to connect them. There's a whole list and slew of things that OBS connects to from twitch to YouTube, to Facebook, or even Twitter or Periscope, there's a lot just make sure that you search inside of Google how to connect you know, or find my YouTube stream key or how to find my twitter or periscope stream key. Once you do that, enter it in and then you'll be off and ready to go and start streaming. Now for the output.

I suggest that you do advanced it may be on simple in the beginning, switch it to advanced and what you're going to do is force the encoder into 264 and then the rescale output 10 ADP is what you want. The bit rate put its maximum which 3500 if you're having any problems with that, then you can lower the bitrate a little bit. What I suggest is also putting your CPU usage on ultra fast. And then you go to the recording, I usually record to my desktop, you can get a format in the mp4, that's going to be best. Again, attending UDP output. Make sure all the settings are the same.

Your audio make sure it's put out at 256. That's usually the expected codec rate. If you're going to submit you know, anything in a sense, rip the audio, put it into a podcast, send it to iTunes Lipson, all of those places, they want these audio bit rates at 256. And saving yourself a whole lot of hassle in trying to up upgrade those bit rates or having to re extract all that audio. Do it from the get go right here. So now we're going to go over to audio, the sample rate is going to be 44.1 48 How do you figure that out, come right down here, right click on that speaker, go to volume control option, or I'm sorry, I'm recording devices.

And if you just speak a little bit, there you go. You can see the microphone, green check. ATR USB microphone is being used, we'll right click, go into the properties of that. Click Advanced. And we can instantly see the default format. We can switch it CD or DVD, I choose DVD.

And I don't actually suggest that you switch it usually you, you should keep it as default. But if you feel that you want to tweak it, just do a test run beforehand, make sure that the quality obviously stays the same and it works well. channels are stereo. The main device you want to program inside is whatever you're using. So if you're recording with your webcam, which I don't suggest You're probably going to get about six or seven out of 10. For all audio quality, your microphone, if you get the setup like I suggest you'll get a 10 out of 10.

Select that that should be your only audio device video the same, you're going to get a 10 eP 10 ADP here, make sure it's 32 sample sharpen scaling, you want 30 frames per second, if you're going to be doing streaming, I suggest going up to 60 frames per second. And that will of course, increase with any of the lag or skip that will naturally happen through streaming. I have a lot of short key set, not really a lot, but the main ones that you need, which is your starting your stop, which again allows you to not have to even edit your videos. If you get good at pressing just one or two keys on your keyboard without looking or right at the end of your speech. Then again, that saves you all have the need of having to edit and go through and render videos that can add up Usually hours, sometimes days to courses or marketing materials.

Then when you go into your default, you can switch scenes in different ways. And I'll show you how to set up scenes. For me, like I said, you can switch between just the webcam like this, or just the viewer of the desktop like this, all of that set inside of here. Finally, the advanced which is probably the most important, your process priority should be high. Now this is going to make your CPU processor possibly potentially run hot. Do you make sure that you have some fans or some cooling setup for it, etc, or that it's in an open area that can get some, you know, wind flow through.

With that being said, That's usually one of the main issues behind a laggy video or improper quality for your recording when it comes to stream delays, Like to enable it that way, it allows me to kind of jump off sometimes if the stream cuts for any reason, I have that buffer zone in order to recover without there being much lost. So I have a 22nd duration, and I reconnect as much as possible. That's all you have is once you have those options, just click OK. We're going to go over here. And the scenes as you can see, usually have a default. And that's going to set up this right here as you can see, but if you come down here, you'll see this plus, click this plus button, and you'll have multiple options. As you can see, to add, what I choose is usually a mic, my display capture device, which is of course the desktop and then a video capture device, which is this video right here.

And when I do this Right click, duplicate these. And now I can create a second default, rename it, delete this, I only want the webcam. When I only want the webcam inside of this. I want the webcam to be large like this covering the entire screen, or I'll switch back or I'll do desktop only. Things like that are very easy to record in setup inside OBS. And with that, you have all of the recording tools necessary to get yourself going in.

Really the most professional setups and the least expensive of all the ages of recording. It's amazing that we have all these tools available to us. So once you know how to use them. It's really just a matter of utilizing them every day in your natural habits.
