Bottled water comes from a variety of sources. Some products simply comprise tap water that’s been bottled while others use fresh spring water or another source. Bottled water from underground sources generally features a label that’s been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), such as:

artesian well water
mineral water
spring water
well water

While some people believe bottled water to be safer, better tasting, and more convenient than tap water, several concerns surround its safety and environmental impact.
When bottle water comes from a "municipal" source that simply means it is tap water that has been bottled and stored in plastic for who knows how long. Even though they say plastic does not break down for 10 years it still slowly leaches its chemical stabilizers into anything it comes into contact with. In other words, tap water in plastic bottles is a double whammy with chemicals.
