What we do for the hour before we go to bed and how we prepare for bed have a direct effect on how well we sleep through the night. Taking the time to relax before bed can assist in calming the mind enough to get to sleep and stay asleep.
Turning off the cell phone, computer or TV off at least an hour before bed can help promote sleep hormone (melatonin) production by reducing the effects of backlighting on your circadian rhythm (internal clock).
Adding a relaxing practice to your bedtime routine can have immediate effects on the quality of your sleep. Using soft light, candles, salt lamps, and/or Aromatherapy during your relaxing practice can greatly increase the calming benefits.
