Supplements for sleep can include hormones like melatonin or amino acids like 5HTP. These are adding more of something your body already makes. This is not the best idea. Your hormones are already out of balance adding more of one is not going to correct the situation. In other words, using these should be a last resort.
If you've tried all of the other recommendations and practices in the previous sections and you still cannot sleep. Then it may be time to see a doctor. There may be a medical reason for your insomnia.
