DESCRIPTION: Hi, I'm Clark Smith.
Thank you for registering for Fundamentals of Modern Wine Chemistry. (Renamed Winemaking Fundamentals Made East, which is what it really is.)
In this course, you will learn the essentials of a college enology degree in six easy lessons.
This course is for you if you are starting a winery as a second career, engaged in making wine without formal training, maybe brushing up your skills as an experienced pro, or preparing to enter a university enology program.
As for prerequisites, you do not have to have a grasp of chemistry to take this course, but you do need familiarity with winemaking generally. If you don't understand terms such as racking, punching down, and malolactic fermentation, or if you don't really know the difference between a tank and a barrel, you could easily get lost in this course.
Now, this is not a training course in laboratory skills, and the fine points of running a pH, titratable acidity, SO2, ethanol, CO2, or any of the other common wine...
