In the next slide you will learn about the 8020 rule. prioritizing your time means changing habits or activities that cause you to waste time this turns with that Taking an objective look at your current functioning and being willing to experiment new methods and develop new habits. The 8020 rule or Pareto principle states that 80% of your results come from 20% of your actions only.

Take the time to think about your own functioning. What do you spend your time on? parishes principal parishes law is a useful tool to help you prioritize and manage the work in your life. So why is this road useful? The Pareto principle helps you realize that the majority of results come from a minority of inputs, knowing this if for example, 20% of workers contribute 80% results, focus on rewarding these employees. If 20% of bugs contribute 80% of crashes, focus on fixing these birds first, these nipples gone.

The point is to realize that you can often focus your effort on the 20 person that makes the difference. Instead of the 80 person that doesn't add much. in economic terms, there is diminishing marginal benefit. This is related to the Law of Diminishing Returns each additional hour effort. Each extra worker is adding less on to the final result. By the end you are spending lots of time on the minor details if you scrutinize the items on your to do list Chances are just a few of the items are tied to importance each use.

What we may take satisfaction in crossing a large number of the smaller issues off our task lists. The 8020 rule suggests we should focus on the few larger items that will generate the most significant results. The list might not grow much shorter, but you will be practicing effective prioritization. in assessing risk for an upcoming project, not every risk carries equal significance. Some managers and firms actively the customer listing every few years, effectively firing The bottom performing customers intrapreneurs and independent professionals should evaluate their workloads and assess whether the gross majority of their time is spent chasing small value activities, including, for example, administrative work that is easily and inexpensively outsourced. When evaluating of major progress on your goals, focus on the few goals or activities that are the most critical to your development or success.

Similar to the task list, not all duties and goals are created equal. Of course, the 8020 rule may not be the best strategy in every case. But the point of the Pareto principle is to recognize that most things in life are not distributed evenly. make decisions on allocating time, resources and effort based on this. Instead of spending one hour drafting a paper blog post, you're not sure is needed, spend 10 minutes thinking of ideas, then spend 15 minutes writing about the best one. Instead of agonizing three hours on a single design, make six layouts and pick your favorite.

Rather than spending three hours to read three articles in depth, spent five minutes glancing through 12 articles, and then spend an hour each of the two best ones. The Pareto principle isn't it servation not a lover of nature. When you are seeking top quality, you need all 100% when you're trying to optimize your bang for the buck, focusing on the critical 20% is a time saver.
