Hello and welcome back. This is Michael Williams Welcome back to what, seven steps to quickly achieve smooth, calm and confident speech smooth, calm and confident speech. So we're going to do a little review. Look at step one. The first step is to begin to tell yourself to reprogram yourself, right you're reprogramming you're rewriting the script, rewriting the program. I don't have to rush I can take my time and say what I want to say.

You can't say once you have to say it over and over each and every day until you start to think it on your own. And you want to listen to this audio once a day, right? gives you control when you start to do that. The second step, step two, is to pause before you speak, not just when someone asks you a question, but also when you want to say something and you want to say it right now. just pause for a sec. Before you say, so it's almost like your natural reaction is to say it now, right?

When you say okay, I'm gonna say something. me pause and relax. In fact, if you want, we can even say, we can even add to this right? We can say pause, and relax. Pause and relax when you pause and take a breath, pause and relax. Before before you speak, pause and relax before you speak.

Alright, let's move on. And let's take a look now at step number three, right, we're going to take a look at step number three, what is step number three. Let's take a look what is step number three. Step number three is you want to use natural format. That word, natural. intra doctory.

Words, phrases or sounds. Okay? We want to use natural introductory words, phrases or sounds and I'm going to give you some examples of what we're talking about. And let's talk about first, what do I mean by introductory words, phrases sounds, what do I mean by natural? Why do you want to do this? What kind of impact is it going to have on your speech once again, this is one of those strategies or techniques or steps that can instantly and Wow, exponentially improve your speech.

Okay. So, what are we talking about? And why do you want to do this? Well, when we talk about natural introductory words and phrases I want you to, I'm going to give you a homework assignment. I like for you to listen to how people around you speak while I'm going to watch TV and I want you to just observe how people speak. Listen to the words they use when they get started speaking.

Listen to the sounds they use when they get started speaking, listen to how they transition, like so they're in a conversation, and then all of a sudden, they get ready to say something. What words and sounds Do you hear them using? Well, some people use a lot of slang and they use it as a crutch. They use this word like Like, like, like, like some of my clients. And quite a few of my clients have used this word like, like, like innocence. a crutch, right?

It's a word that they use to kind of get something out to say something so they can transition to the next thing. It also is the habit, right? It's a habit I was growing up usually use, like, often young people use like, so like is one of those words that's a crutch word. It's a transitional word. It can be an introductory word. It's not one of the better words to use as an introductory or transition word.

Okay? It just doesn't sound as intelligent as some other words, we all use it right? We all probably use this word like what you don't want to overuse. You don't want to use it all the time. Or use it because you can't say some you just want to use it because naturally flows with what you're saying. Like, if I were to say that, right?

Like if I were to say this, that's the appropriate use of like, I don't have to use it, but it's just float. So like is one of those words. Um, let's see what we're going to do. Ah, um, and I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to spell these right. I'm going to give it a try. So we got words, like, like, right?

Of course, I could spell like, we got words like, ah, we got words like, um, I don't know if that's right. Right. So you can correct me for spelling incorrectly, because I know it's some combination of those letters. But I'm like, ah, these are all just kind of natural sounds. These are sounds. These are sounds that people use to get started.

And to transition. These are sounds that people use. This is a word. So we're going to talk about words in just a moment, right here. So let's just say this is a really big fat marker isn't. So we're going to talk about right words.

And like it's one of those words, and we'll talk about more words, as well. So, when we say introductory words, phrases or sounds natural, these are words you'll hear people saying around you listen to them, Listen to how people speak. Some other words that you will hear people use will be words like, so. This is one of my favorite ones. The one that I use most often. Well, wealth, well is another one.

Okay. Believe it or not the word and actually starting a sentence off and what do you think we should do today? And what do you think we should do about that? Believe it or not, it's actually a pretty good word to use. So well and And there are some other ones as well, right that I'm not able to think of right now. But you can think of some, in fact, I want you to come up with a list and share them with us.

Words that people use to get started, as well as to transition as they're speaking, but these are just a few of them. Now, this word is a word that I would use. least if I were you, I recommend you use this word least to get started. And as a transition word, words that sound okay for you to use, as you're transitioning or getting started is so now, I know there's some people that I know what disguise nobody's talking about. But if you just listen to people and some awesome, very intelligent people, very, very intelligent people who start their senses off with so watch the news. Go talk to a lot of these entrepreneurs, millionaires and billionaires and a lot of them will say So in a lot of professors and you'll hear them stuff, so like, there'll be an interview and they'll ask a question, how did you get started?

And they'll say so many years ago, I didn't need to say. So. You also hear people say, um, let's see some combination of our arm. Very, very natural sound, very natural sound. Here's the difference. When someone says, Ah, and it's really loud and pronounced, you don't want to do that.

You don't want it because it draws attention to and if you do it every single time you get started. Then you're drawing attention to it. It doesn't sound very intelligent. It's not very smooth. But if you say, let's see, and you don't say it every single time, great way to get started. what it also does is it opens up your air passage.

It's a sound like, um, right. It's almost like a meditative sound. So when you say that you feel very relaxed, it opens your air passes. And you can almost whisper you can almost say it quietly at sea just so quick that hardly anyone would ever hear to open those passages. Now what's going to happen when you start to do that? You start to open your passes with the glue quiet quick.

You're going to feel more relaxed, you're going to be able to get started speaking easier. Remember that you're going to be able to get started speaking easier. Now, why is that so important? That's so important. Because when you start to get started speaking easier, and your brain begins to see, oh, getting started speaking is not a problem for us anymore. Then it is in the process of writing that new script right?

That new program that says up Neverwhere in these kinds of situations and we need to get started. It's not a problem anymore We don't need to pay attention to we don't need to close the airways, we don't need to get tense and become anxious and nervous and get stuck just throwing our arm or so or whatever and we just get started. So then you stop thinking about speaking and you start communicating. When that happens, guess what? might not even need to use an hour or so or well or and you just start speaking because your brains no longer focused on it's no longer anticipating and fearing. stuttering.

Does this make sense? want you to think about what I'm saying? This is a strategy to make speaking easier for you quickly achieve smooth, calm, confident speech. This is a strategy to bridge right to use as a bridge as a tool to help you start speaking easier. Your brain starts saying, oh, we're getting started speaking easier now, right? We're getting started speaking easier.

Now speaking is not an issue. Your brain doesn't want to think about speaking just doesn't want to think about walking, or brushing your teeth or driving or riding a bike doesn't want to think about it wants to think about higher level higher order things. So as soon as speech, which you listen to this becomes easier. Your brain stops focusing on it. Right? And then you can say what you want to say when you want to say, just like I can get up and go wherever I want to go when I want to go there, because I'm not thinking about walking, right?

The same. Same thing, same thing. Again, this really does work. This really does work. So so right here we said use natural introduction. Three words, phrases or sounds?

Why do you want to do that? Because it is part of the process of rewriting your speech program. Right? You are rewriting your speech program. And in this new program are scripts that tell your brain getting started and speaking is easier for me. I feel more relaxed, it's calmer, I don't have a problem with it.

And once that program starts running and this other program stops running, then you stop thinking about you stop anticipating words you stop thinking about stuttering, you stop becoming anxious over a certain speed situation and you start speaking smoother and easier and calmer, and saying whatever you want to say. That's why you want to do this. What is this? What is it that you need to do? When you need to get started? Don't be afraid.

Don't let anyone tell you. Oh, you shouldn't do You should, you should just be able to say what you want to say, I'm telling you based on experience, not just personal experience experience with clients that this strategy can get you where you want to go. It's very strategic. Start some of your sentences off with them quiet or quiet. or so. So, okay.

Well, I've even started in fact, I still do sometimes start a sentence off with an end, for example. See, I just said, for example, for example, it's very, very natural, right? It's just a very, very natural way to transition. I didn't say, ah, for example, right. So I'm out in some kind of social situation. And I'll go up to someone and I'll say, and what is your name?

Right. That's nothing. Well, no one thinks about that. Right. It's just my way of getting started. So what is your name?

What is your name right? I even like just kind of saying, What is your name? Right? What is your name? Tell me right now. So I like to soften it with a so what is it?

And what is your name and it's nice to meet you. Well, well, what is your name? So many different ways that you can do this. I like to soften it up with a nice introductory sound, or phrase or word, but you want to remember you don't want to make it pronounced. So Ah, right. You want to keep it quiet and smooth.

Because it's rewriting the script. I hope this is helpful for you. Trust me, this really works. It's really works. You got to believe that it works. You got to see it as a part in the process.

It's part of the process of strategic step to help you rewrite that script and it is there the script is there and it's running and you know it's running because when you go to speak and boom that vous Salomon numerous happens closes Can't say it can't introduce yourself can't. That's what's happening your brains to sync up this? How are we supposed to respond? When I'm talking to my boss? I'm not supposed to say and when I'm answering the phone when I have to introduce someone says, so what's your name? Can't say it.

Right? It's that brain runs the script instantly. We got to rewrite the script. By having you actually change the way you say certain things. Now the brain says, Oh, this is how we did this is how we do this, then it's not a problem anymore. All right.

Now, in step four, I'm also going to give you a technique or strategy that you can use to get started in presentations when you're feeling anxious, especially rice is a great technique we're going to talk about when you're starting a presentation or when you're in a situation that's maybe that has some some pressure, right, you're slightly under pressure. This is a great way to get started but you can also use this technique just naturally When you're in conversation when you're conversing with people, this technique that I'm about to share with you, many people say is helps move out their speech dramatically. So look forward to seeing you in step four.
