Before starting to study any subject or topic, it's important to know from which sources you're going to get the information. This might seem a little bit obvious, but most people don't really take the time to select great sources to study from. And those sources can make your work much easier. You can use textbooks, books, articles, and videos, talks, anything, but it's important that they are from a trusted source, the better the material you are using, the better your life will be while studying that subject or topic. If you have access to someone who mastered the things that you want to learn, such as a professor, you can always ask for articles or books or textbooks recommendations, and you can also look for recommendations on the web. The first tip I have is to first focus on more general sources.

And those general storage sources should provide you an overall picture of the subject or the topic that you want to learn in study. And only then you should focus on specific sources that provide you more detail and specific things related with the topic. General sources are much easier to find because they are usually more talked about. And you can find other references to other general sources in the bibliography of those sources. Right. So if you go to the end of the book, it also says other things that other resources that they use to write that book that you can later check.

Although the sources you're choosing are a very important part of studying, make sure you don't spend endless amounts of hours choosing the sources and trying to find everything that you think you might need. Having more sources does not always mean having a clear understanding of the topic at hand. It's actually my lead more confusion, procrastination, boredom and more time spent, there is no exact number of sources that you should have that totally depends on the topic itself and your priorities, goals on your previous and also on your previous knowledge of the subject. If you're writing a thesis, you might need dozens of sources. But if you just want to learn a few things from a very simple topic, you might only need one the index of a textbook is very important, because there you can find if the topics that you really want to learn are covered on that textbook.

You can see how many pages the textbook covers on that specific topic, and you can see if that's too much for you or too little. So it totally depends on your priorities and goals. In the process of picking your sources. Make sure you mark up the pages where the textbook contains the information that you really want to study in learn. This might means making a circle on the index, or even writing in a paper the pages that really interests you. Depending on your own goals, the process of picking sources might take you 15 minutes, or even no minutes at all if you have someone recommending you good sources, or it can take you a few days, but remember to not become obsessed with finding one last resource or one last source to make your work better.

So here's a summary of the ideas covered on this video. First thing you should do is take some time to find good general sources because those sources are the ones that will help you to study from where you'll be taking notes in read in skim and select. The second step is to move to more specific sources. But of course, this is optional. This depends on your goals. The third tip is do not become obsessed with finding one more last source in fourth tip is to keep track of the pages where the information is You really want to learn and study from is so it will save you time when you start reading in skimming and doing all the other steps you are in college or high school and your professor provides you all the materials you need, you can skip this face.

Depending on your situation, a PowerPoint or a presentation that the professor gives you might be the only material that you have to go through. Another thing that I really like to do is to search for TED talks on topics that I'm studying in learning, because those Give me another perspective on the theme. And usually, the people who deliver the TED talks are very engaging and they provide a very meaningful point of view.
