I'm Jim McCall. Welcome to ultimate drumming calm. This lesson is about eighth note rock and roll beats using eighth notes on the bass drum. First I'm going to play for you. Then I'm going to break it apart note by note and show you how it works. In order to play this really popular rock and roll baby, first of all you have to count eighth notes.

Eighth notes are counted. One and two and three and four and I'm gonna play on the ride pattern with my right hand. eighth notes. I'm gonna play on everything I say, one, and two and three and four, and one and two. Next, I'm going to add the snare drum on beats two and four. So every time I say to, every time I say four, I'm playing snare drum, one, and two, and three and four.

And now I'm going to add the bass drum. The bass drum is going to go on beats one, and beats three. And so every time I say one or three and I'm gonna play the foot, I have to coordinate it all together. One and two, and three and four and Once we get good at that speed, we're going to increase the tempo a little bit. What? Once you get that tempo down now we're really going to pick up some serious speed.

What You've just learned another really great rhythmic combination at ultimate drumming calm, new videos and lessons are being added weekly. It's important that you check back often so you can get the absolute best possible results from your drumming experience. I'm Jim McCall. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you soon at ultimate drumming.com
