One of the more mysterious things about Google, my business is the posting. And just like Facebook and other sites, you can post on Google My Business. And what makes it mysterious is the fact that one, we don't know whether it actually impacts your rankings. And two, it doesn't actually pop up anywhere where we can actually see it very easily. So it's kind of one of those things where you either should do it or not do it, if you do it, it is believe that gives you some sort of advantage over other businesses that aren't doing this. But your mileage may vary.
And so it's one of those weird sort of things that yes, you can do it, I think you probably should do it if you want every single advantage you can have. But it's also something you shouldn't stress out about. If you're not doing it, I wouldn't pay for someone to do this. I might have my assistant, or maybe an employee that you pay a very low amount to post this or you can copy and paste your posts from Instagram or Facebook, put them in here as well. What this is potentially good for is events. So if you log into your Google My Business profile, you actually see where you can do posts, you just click on posts.
And then you have these three options up here, you can add an update, which is what I did here. And you can, you can see here that you can just add an image, write something about it, and then have a strong call to action. If you click one of these buttons, then it gives you an option of where to send the link to if someone was actually to click on that. And you could actually test to see are people actually clicking on this or not, where I think it's actually useful is where you do events. And I do believe that you will get more traction from an event than you would from the What's New post, as well as if you knit ran a special offer. So you can see here, you can run a coupon and where you see this is actually kind of interesting, you can go.
Let me go over to the other screen, and I'll show you so just search for myself for marketing, Buford, Georgia. And you actually see here is how it looks on Google My Business. But you can see there's actually nothing here I'm gonna go ahead and refresh the page and see if it updates. So you can see here this was the latest post and this is only going to last For maybe like seven days or so. But this is where it pops up. So if someone types in your name like a brand, and they see it, it's going to be all the way down here and what they call that is below the fold.
So you can actually see it's way down here. But this would be where the coupon would be, this would be where your event would be. The other thing that happens sometimes is when you do a, when you do a search for something, and it's during a certain time period, and event might pop up for that. I don't have any examples for that, unfortunately. But you, I would be where you might see it. So in case posting shows up down here, it's not doesn't seem to be very useful.
Doesn't seem to I don't know that anyone's going to actually see that. But when it comes to, but when it comes to actually ranking, does Google give me an edge because I'm posting versus those who don't post? And that's really the question. The question isn't necessarily Am I going to sell more things? With the post? The question is, can I beat my opponents?
Can I beat my competitors by posting more ads The answer is just depends. As I mentioned in one of the other videos, SEO is really one of those all things being equal thing. And so no one's ever going to be equal. All businesses are different, how they're set up is different, how we optimize is different. So even if you follow every tip I've ever given about how to optimize your Google, my business profile posting doesn't necessarily give you an advantage. So So my recommendation is decide whether you want to do it or not.
If you're already I think of businesses already doing Instagram and Facebook posts and LinkedIn posts, those sort of things. should go ahead, just add Google, my business is relatively easy just to copy and paste and put that stuff in there. And I think it would give you advantage if you're not doing it, that you're not on Twitter, you're not on Instagram, you're not on Facebook or any of that stuff. Then I would just say, you know what, just skip over it. Maybe consider adding it later. But not right now.
Not at this moment. At the beginning of 20 of 2020. I wouldn't think that posting is is key. I mean they may get rid of it, or they may enhance it in the coming year. We never we don't know. So For now, I just wanted to go over it so you knew what it was and, and cover all the bases.
So thanks for watching and I look forward to talking to you in the next video.
