What do you do if you're in the middle of an interview, and all of a sudden, you have this irresistible itch on your face, you don't want to scratch it because this the middle of the interview, you don't want to look distracting. On the other hand, it's hard to think about anything else other than how much you want to scratch your face. Here's my advice. Don't torture yourself. Simply finish your thought. And then while the reporter is asking you the next question, then you can scratch.
Because if you're on a live interview, chances are the people at home are not seeing you. They're seeing the house and if they do it, no big deal. If it is any sort of an edited interview, and you're feeling like it's disrupting your thought process, just stop, scratch, and then begin your sentence again at the beginning of your thought. That way, if they're editing the story together, they can use the whole thought without having distracting scratching your face. Now, you shouldn't be horribly uncovered. comfortable in an interview, but if you have one little bitty twitch or something or you want to scratch your stretcher, let's hold that till the end of the interview.
I want you to tortured, but you're not at home in your living room either.
