So what's the best way to actually deliver the keynote speech, whether it's live or recorded, some people sell is easy. I'll just have my audio and I'll just flash my slide. I highly do not recommend that you just use your voice and put up a bunch of slides, especially if those slides have text. It's boring for people. They can read at home or you can email them if it's just a bunch of text. My recommendation is speak to people, and then give them access to a PDF, a PowerPoint, a book, a white paper, whatever it is.

So for example, instead of going through in this course, right now, page after page of how to give a speech from my book, I'm simply going to give you the entire book in the bonus section of this course you want to read, you will. You don't want to read it, you won't. But I'm not going to show page one chapter won and all these bullet points on the screen instead of looking at you. So I do believe if you really want this to have the experience of a keynote speech, people need to see you. They're not just asking for the slides they want to see and they want to hear you. And that's why I would recommend that you use a video camera on you now, what is the best way of doing that?

A lot of people say, Oh, well I know I need the teleprompter. You could use a teleprompter. I teach people how to use teleprompter. I have teleprompters I've used teleprompters I do not recommend people use teleprompters for virtual keynote speeches. The problem with teleprompters is it actually takes more time to practice the speech get ready with it and use it well. a teleprompter and then just talking to people.

So for example, I'm delivering this whole lesson for you this whole course this lecture. And I really just have one sheet of notes. This is what gets me through the entire lecture and then a moment, I'm going to show you an entire keynote speech I gave to a group of business people in Iran recently. And I just had a single sheet of notes I would occasionally glance down to look at problem with teleprompter is, once someone has a teleprompter, they tend to read at the same speed and the same tone, and the same volume with pauses the same and that makes you seem like a robot. Unless you're a professional newscaster and you use a teleprompter every day for hours, is actually really hard to use a teleprompter. Plus if You're 10 minutes into your 20 minutes speech and you make a stumble, it's a lot more noticeable if you make a stumble when reading.

And then you're going to feel like you've got to redo the whole thing or start some editing process. So I would caution you against that my recommendation, easiest for you, and best experience for your audience. Just talk to the camera, as if you're talking to one or two people. Now even though it's a keynote, and you could be talking to 2000 people resist the urge to sound like you're talking to 2000 people by fellow citizens of the globe. That's too intense. Again, if they are seeing this on a giant screen with good speakers, they can hear you fine.

So don't put that big speaker tone of voice because when you project that loudly it flattens you out. It makes you sound monotone. The best tone of voice to use is one. That's just like when you're speaking to one or two friends about something you care about in an animated way where you have highs, lows, fast slows, stops, occasionally and starts. You want variety in your voice, that's what's going to make you interesting to listen to. And that's what's going to make it sound, not like a canned speech.

Now, if you're recording it in advance, it essentially is a canned speech. But when people say, a canned speech, what they really mean is something that isn't very interesting. And that has a delivery that isn't particularly passionate or engaging. So I would strongly urge you not to try to read from a teleprompter, nor what I suggest you read a whole script. And that's also why you really shouldn't be relying on power. point because if it's just you're going through bullet points, especially if you're not showing all the bullet points, it doesn't come across, well just talk to people.

Just talk to them as if you were there. Ideally, you get the hang of this. There's not going to be any difference between you being there or delivering your keynote virtually, except you're not going to go out to dinner with people afterwards. But especially if you do it live and take questions, there's still that engagement. So it can be a very, very effective way of really communicating and connecting with people. So I need you to start to get ready to give your speech if you don't have it condensed to notes that fit on a page.

You need to do that because if you have your notes on a page, and then you just occasionally glanced down and spend the rest of the time talking to the camera, you'll be in much better shape.
