Other standard operating procedures you need. I didn't have and it cost me dearly. We already talked about reviews, you of course have to ask for reviews nicely at the beginning and sometimes throughout the course. But then you have to respond to the reviews and I respond in a very particular way. And how did I learn this? I looked at all the other courses out there and looked at how the most successful YouTube and Udemy instructors reacted to reviews and feedback.
And there's a set pattern. If someone gives you a five star review, you say thank you so much. I appreciate it. Let me know if I can ever help you. If someone gives you a four and a half, then you say Hey, thanks for reviewing. It looks like you're pretty satisfied.
But I'm always trying to improve I want to make this a fantastic course for you. If there's anything else you can think of to make this a five star course. Please let me know. And by the way, you can And change your rating at any point and then spell out where to change that. And if someone gives a worst review, say worse than four stars, you write in and say thank you very much. Appreciate your feedback.
I'm trying to improve this. If you could, please let me know exactly what you want, I will try to address it. And by the way, here's where you can change it. After you've seen the changes I've made. You can change your review. So it's a very set process where every review is responded to.
I didn't used to do that. I would occasionally thank people who left me perfect five star review. And the others I just got it got angry, right? No, I didn't write back to them. Typically, but I often ignored them. Big problem.
You need a set response for every single review. You need a set response for every question. And depending on your subject here, it's probably not going to be that onerous. I think Questions almost every day, but I'm not getting thousands of questions. So respond to questions, especially within 24 hours, respond to comments. Your students will really appreciate that when I when I got a lot faster with responding to questions and comments, and I put in things like automatic messages, what I noticed was the same old some of the same old courses, I have got much higher reviews, I hadn't changed anything else on the course.
But my responsiveness to the students got much better, much faster. They responded in kind by giving me much better reviews. So please don't make the mistakes I made. You've got to really be responsive to people. Anytime there's interaction between the student and you, you've got to communicate back and I'll give you some more tips in just a moment in the next lecture.
