Advanced Tip No matter how successful you are, no matter how big your organization is, how rich you are, it still can't hurt you to know how to create your own media, specifically video without any help. Now in many organizations, once you rise to a certain level, certain executive position, you've got all the staff of the videographers come in and they can do a great job and help you in many, many situations. But if you're traveling and something happens, a crisis, for example, or something really good and you want to be out front, you need to get to the point where you're comfortable. Just recording your own video, releasing it to your Facebook page, your YouTube channel, your newsletter, to investors analyst and you've got to be comfortable with it. So it could be simply holding up your cell phone, hitting record. It could be making sure you have a laptop but knowing you look your best So the reason I held it up here rather than down here is it looks.

As we've talked about an earlier earlier sections of this course It looks so much better if the video is at your eye level or a couple of inches above the video camera. Now you can be traveling with a spouse or partner. And you can direct them to hold it up so that it's at your eye level so that it looks better. You may want to travel with a simple lav microphone that will plug into your phone or your laptop so the audio is much better. So regardless of how big your organization is, how many resources I do think if you want to be a real Media Pro and be able to react at a moment's notice, you got to be ready to be available for media interviews through Skype video from anywhere in the world at any time. And that means knowing how to use your own equipment if it's your laptop, making sure Skype is already there, that your laptop has a video camera on it.

You're going to use your cell phone, doing it through FaceTime, making sure you know how it works. That's what real media pros do.
