You want to be a true Media Pro, don't turn down media interview request. I understand if you're a CEO of Microsoft and you get 10,000 interview requests today, or you're the president united states, you get 10 million interview requests today, you have to be selective. But for the vast, vast majority of the rest of the world, we don't have that many inquiries. My advice is, your default assumption should be just do the interview. Of course, there are exceptions. If someone's asking you to criticize the president or the Prime Minister of your country, you know, if you do, you're going to be the seat with death threats, and you're not a political commentator.
Okay. I understand. turn that down. I turned down a lot of interviews that regard political issues these days, for that very reason. But if it's something about your area of expertise in your industry, Don't waste time with no this reporter once wrote something negative about me or they editorialist against our company 27 years ago, just do the interview. Don't be a big baby.
Don't be one of these people's is only do an interview if I like everything about the reporter and everything about the media outlet and everything is perfect. That's petty, and you'll never be a true Media Pro that way. So my advice, your default position on interview request, just do it now. You can always say I'm not available till Tuesday morning, and I can only give you five minutes you can limit the time if it really seems insignificant. The true media pros I've seen famous famous attorneys, famous media celebrities, psychologist, the ones who are everywhere. They say yes to everything.
It could be a high school radio show. Now they might only get that A radio host three minutes on the phone. And it might be scheduled at an inconvenient time, but they still say yes. And that's what I do as well. That's my recommendation to you just say yes to every media request.
