So, Hi guys, welcome back to the next lecture for the course a quick guide for Katia of part design module. So, in the last session, you know, we have completed the operations features that features in the toolbar that is operations in sketcher module. Now, let us explain new features and explore new features to you. I will explain you the transformation features of partisan today right. So, first let us have a component first then I will explain you the transformation feature these are machines features So, see the I think is highlight this because we didn't have don't have any component on which we need to apply these transformations. So, first let us apply the transformer have a sketch and then generate a three dimensional object.

So, let me for ease of understanding again let me take the image take an example of a cuboid let me generate a cuboid So, it is a closed profile that is for sure it is 70 and this 170 So, let us make it 200 and let us make it so, exit the workbench and now Patrick So, it is showing 20 So, let us make it Sorry, yeah that does make it say 100 right. That's it. Now, this is a cuboid which I was discussing. So, this is a plane. Now let let us have some measure. So, this total thing was one and these were 200.

Now, let me see what is the distance between this and this central plane, it is not at the center I think let us see, let us go to measure option sorry, cancel let us go for this first and then this inch, this is 80 So, this is 80 this one remaining is 120. So, total is 200 now, may show you how to apply transformation feature and then we will see what will be the distance then with respect to the central. So, this coordinate plane What is this plane this jet x because it is highlighted here jet x. So, with respect to jet explain now this edge is 80 mm distance distant. Now, let me see once I apply transformation feature what are the changes that happened to this thing? So, let's apply it to this translation it is asking do you want to keep the transformation specifications by that it means it means meant that do we want to include the transformation feature that we are applying into this specification tree?

So, no yes I want it okay now it is asking in which direction do you want to translate it. So, the direction either you can click this or else that that you can click that direction which is perpendicular to sampling because That direction by the term direction I meant it is a normal to certain plane. So, if I click this plane select this plane that means that the direction in which I can translate this object is perpendicular to the plane the normal direction to the plane is that direction it is being specified here. Now distance let us say, I can right here I can enter here or else I can take it either front or back sorry I can take it forward or backward, let me take like this in this direction, say for example, I want to give it as 30 So, I'm moving it 30 forward with respect to the coordinate axis.

So, the new position of coordinate access is shifted by 30 degrees towards left or I can say this edge is shifted 30 mm forward, let us observe no that means 30 is the change it from this equation it has moved forward means this distance now it should be 5080 minus 30 minutes 50. Now, let me measure see. So, it is transformed. So actually and so with respect to coordinate axis if you want to shift the position of this body, then you have to apply transformation features, if you don't and that will appear here, what is the translating here you have to translate option if you don't want that to happen if you just want it to move the component here and there, you can I just do it. Okay, you can just do it. Sorry.

Impossible move some elements in the family or fixer jet, explain. Okay, you can isolate them or replace them by data elements. Okay? Okay, so because I upload the Translate option the plane got fixed. Now, let me delete it and try it again. Now, directly I hope I can do it Yes, earlier it was fixed because I applied translation when I applied translation I fixed it to this jet explained that's what it was showing the warning or prompt now because I deleted the transcript, I went to the initial position.

Now, see with using this I can translate anywhere with respect to this coordinate. So this is this position of it is okay it is fixed with respect to this we can change the position of this component forward backward everywhere, but you cannot track what you have done here in the specifications. So, initially when you when you Sorry, initially when you created the part it was some portion of it was something like this Have it was something like this, but after certain changes after certain changes, it is something like this. Now, when you save this file and open later then you will observe it in the same position you will not able to tell what are the transformations you have done what are the translations what are the rotations you have done. So, to keep track of that, you need to apply transformations here. When you apply from here, you will have a track here here in specification three you will get the details what you have applied.

So, that is very necessary, right. So, depending on a record if you want it to be recorded, you need to apply these if you need not need don't need what are the translations or rotations you have done. Then you can directly do it. Bring it I will tell you how to do it. Go here. Once you see this symbol, hold the left click and with index finger, whatever It is you drag it onto the required surface and place it on the object.

Once you place it, this coordinate this compass is associated with this body this object, then you take it on whatever is the direction you want to move it, you go there and then a holder right left click again and then drag it upwards downwards upwards downwards, it cannot move in any other direction, because the direction selected is vertical ones. For example, you want it to move left and right, then you select this object again. Then, you will go here, hold the left click and move it if you want to rotate in this particular plane that means this is what this is why this is good, this is x. So this is x. So x, y x y plane you want to rotate it in the SU component and xy plane. So this is For rotation, when you hold it, hold the left click and rotate it.

So, these are all transformations you can do using this only using this compass, but you can use the compass the details of the transformations you applied will not be saved. So, that is the reason why we use transformation features same is rotation when you Sorry, when you try to apply rotation it is again asking whether you want to keep the transformations reification yes you say as axis what is the axis about which you want this to get rotation you want rotation said this is the edge about which it you want it to rotate. Now, angle he can it can be 50 degrees it can be 60 degrees, whatever it is, it has taken some arbitrary angle with respect to this at this total component will rotate like this, like this. You can add Just that angle. So, the 42 degrees so, it is taking positive return in negative in a clockwise direction Yes, sir this edge now 20 1315 1617 it is increasing right is increasing direction if you take back it is decreasing direction.

So, clockwise is positive anti clockwise is negative for this situation because you have selected this edge right. So, depending on the direction, so, this is by right hand thumb through thumb right thumbs rule or right hand thumb rule there will be the direction or the angle measurement will be decided whether clockwise should be increasing our anti clockwise to be increasing either negative or positive that is all okay. So you can give it here say some say 50 degrees and so it is rotated about this end This body has rotated right. So, that is how it is translation. Now, another one is symmetry for symmetry say for example about this plane, I want this to symmetric onto the other side, then say I will apply symmetry option, it will ask whether you want to keep the specification I want to keep it and the reference about which this body should be symmetric is this one.

So, here it will disappear it will appear this side symmetric as a mirror ship. Now, you see now once I click OK This will disappear and it here it has come this similar to the operations feature sketcher module. So, that is how it is but, if you upload a mirror here, same thing it will again ask you the reference shape. You want to you want to apply mirror to this current solid and with respect to what With respect to this, then now if you do the mirror shift will never element will be their original element will also be their component. So, that is for mirror. Now, let us go back, go back and apply and apply and learn how to apply these features, rectangular and circular patterns say here are trying to apply a hole so, it is some 60 mm sorry, are ELLs, so diameter is 10 and I'm only 15 mm and this threaded type up to last through hole I want positioning sketch I want to place this sketch with some restrictions.

To select this control a hold of our ctrl key and select this here the distance between those two Shall we say 20 similar distance between this and this shall be 20 I'll say 30 no exactly exit workbench that means at that position with that as a center hole will be created said type type, let me mention it as counter board for example, just for counters just for that sake I say okay sorry. So it is not distinguishable. So, 15 type 15 depth, fine. So, diameter since the original diameter how often here let me do 20 now you can distinguish The placement of boiler so you have one hole actually what you required was in this component you wanted six holes 123 and one more 123. So quarter six you want, if you want that individually how to apply holes that will take a lot of time.

If you take help of this rectangular pattern, you can do it in matter of seconds. So now I'm selecting this, I want three instances the original and this more at a spacing. So say for example, I want not three, but four in this line and four in this one two rows, four columns. So at a distance of say, for example, may not be good either at a distance of say, for example, 40 or 35. Right. So three instances reverse direction.

So should we along this line. I don't On the complete object to be done, I want only so not instance So, let it before I want not to pattern only the whole not the concrete objects. So, I will select whole here see, so, here a lot of spaces that I want to place these holes a bit distant to each other. So, yeah now it is okay fine. The second direction I want means is have a second row two instances spacing shall be 13 reference direction should be this one because rows should that now the direction is coming this set I want this whole second set to be that side reversed So, I can click here or I can just say reverse. Now see these are too close to these holes I want some distance between them Then I may increase further spacing say 50 I hope it is okay cool, fine okay.

So, that is how you need to use rectangular pattern right Hope you are clear with it. Now say for example, I want holes around this particular hole a special design Say for example, now then a circular button this in rows and columns I wanted earlier. So, I applied a rectangular pattern now, I want a circular pattern now, for that, but to them first let me apply a hole first at one hole I will have done to that I will appear circular but on this surface I want to hold Let it be seven mm, no push let me position it. So, this particular thing with respect to the axis of this particular hole On this particular thing with respect to I'm unable to check click the on axis. So, with respect to this particular access access Let it be say for example, with 2020 right, let us have a normal you know, then it is complete now this way I want holes all around, exit workbench click OK. My one such holes all around this.

Now apply circular pattern to this hole it's already current object is hole. Now, I want eight instances I want eight holes all around it at 44 degrees which means every 45 degree there will be a hole. Now the reference will be the axis of this particular hoping to get the taxi register view then only you will be able to see the access of this particular element. Let me select the axis, I'm unable to check on the axis of this particular hole okay. So let me select the lateral surface itself Okay, along the circular contour, we will have holes repeated. So observe that They might they are coming something like this.

So, I click OK. So, that is what you get a circular pattern. So, this is how you can use rectangular and circular patterns for your for easing and saving some time. Now scaling scaling can be applied to a particular thing this total object will be selected scaling. Now, how much reference you will need to take with respect to which plane you want to scale or with respect to which object you want to scale. So, for example, this plane perpendicular to this plane will be the direction of scaling say I am selecting this.

So, scaling will be in this direction. So, this is two times say okay to increase its site size right the is one way another scaling Say for example, again selected scaling now, I want to increase its direction insolent in this direction I want to scale two times in this direction horizontal direction not perpendicular to this direction is displayed that explain then it will be increased like this Okay. Now, I want to scale in this way, then again I sell it two times and perpendicular to this is this one by jet plane okay. So, this is how it is right it is increased a scaled up element now, that how many are scaling with respect to x y is provided with red X all those three axes, then final shape is retained, but size is increased two times in all perspectives in x in y in good directions.

So, that is how it is So, these are the things I wanted to discuss regarding transformation features in part design. So that's all now annotations is nothing but it is a very simple thing. You just it is a view it is used to view naming for the dimensions. My bed system is bit slower. So I want to name this one said this edge we say h1 okay okay Or as I can say tolerances courtesy, enter the characteristics of the tolerance in the dialog box or select additional geometry. Let me say for example, plus minus 0.5 is the tolerance for it.

Let it be that okay. No properties and I want to increase the size. So bigger font Rola, so everything ratio 100 I want to increase it so that it is visible Regular bold color red sys apply. See here, that is how I win. So for this particular edge the tolerances plus minus 0.5 that's how we can do an addition those are the simple things. So, generally we use it very less for at a education level or academics level, we don't go into depth, we just you have to know that these features are there and how to apply those features.

With practice this Katia the software's are such whatever may be the amount of examples that I impose on You and teach on you teach you, you won't get it it only thing only way to understand and learn this is practice the more you practice on the software, the more well versed you will become with it. Only thing from my side from an instructor side you need is what are the options available at hand and what are the possibilities or how are the possibilities to use those features to get our to our requirement. So, the instructors work is to show you the direction in which you need to go whether it is the practice the level of practice, that decides how fast you learn that concepts and how far or how well versed you become with that particular software. This rule belongs everywhere this rule can be applied to every field.

So that is with this I I close explaining you the features in the next session next class. Let us go ahead by explaining you some examples by developing designs direct part designs, I will not be explaining I will not be detail I will not give you in detail explanation for each and every feature there, I will directly take some 2d two dimensional or three dimensional diagram on a paper or from internet I will download certain part diagrams, then I will show you how to develop those from starting level to the ending of the part design. So, thank you thank you for this lecture. Thank you for listening to this lecture patiently. Thank you
