Hi guys hope all doing good. So, I am back with the next lecture for the course a quick guide for Katia for part design module. So, in the earlier section or earlier lecture, I have described you or I have acquainted you with several features and toolbars and several other things about Katia basic things are most popularly used things to develop a bar design because basically our course focuses on parties in this particular course, now, let us have a virtual experience I will go to the software and I will work on the software and show you on my screen, how we develop a particular product and stages step by step. Now, in this particular lecture, I will tell you how to extrude or how to add material to a two dimensional figure and how to remove material from a three dimensional figure. These two features will You see in this particular video, say now, let us start our virtual experience.

So, once you actually Katia is installed in my, this one laptop, so, if you double click on it some screen something like this will open. So, this blue thing you are seeing is the workbench actually our workspace design space whatever you call, so, there are several toolbars here on this right hand strip and the bottom strips. So, these are several universe This is beautiful one, this one is space analysis. So, there are several other things. Now, say for example, this one name you are unable to see this is attend toolbar. So, if you want to know its name, you can adjust it like this and drag it here.

Now it is approach structure tools Xur. So, you can adjust it either in the left transcript, top strip down or even here it is there is no option. So here so those are the options are available for you. So, these are this is actually not part design sorry. So, now if you say for example you want our main moto is for part design, so go to Start menu, go to mechanical design then part design, it would ask like this, click OK or something like this will happen. Now.

Safe part design this is a specification tree, there are several main This is Main Menu bar you can see here several menus, yes a file menu, Eric can start a new project or you can open an existing project or close the existing one sale the existing one or a management So, those are our things our options. Similarly here if you also actually the toolbars you're looking at here, say this one. This is analysis toolbar. This is view toolbar system A mother This is some other there are some many toolbars This is some other this is sketch based features. So there are several toolbar these all toolbars actually are able to see but say for say for example by mistake or for support someone deleted and you want to work on them, then how to do that you go here, go to toolbars then select the Customize option you will get customers so actually, my processor is bit slow so it is taking bit of time.

So once you select that you will get some window like this customize window so you select restore positions. When you click OK. Then you will get all of them at their own positions initial deep it Fall positions, this actually I deleted this thing number it has come again. So, I can select and adjust this anywhere in on these strips. So, that is a beauty of categories. Now, say for example, I want to draw certain things I want to select this plane observe that here this is getting selected or else I can select this xy plane and click it here see that this is getting orange color that means, it is selected that means xy plane horizontal plane xy plane y direction x direction this is top is jet Say for example, I'm selecting x jet plane that means, this one jet x or x jet or whatever it is.

So, Jet explain is highlighted that is how we can understand our which reference plane we are working on. Now, before developing a 3d model, the basic thing is we need to have a two dimensional profile we need to generate a profile to dimensional profile. So to do that, in Katia, we have a sketcher module, first select a particular plane on which you want to work out. So to get a simpler one and make you understand the commands simple in a simple way, that is work out on a cuboid. First we need to develop a cuboid that means projection of the world in any of the planes xy jet or jet x will be a rectangle provided it's just are perpendicular to the coordinate x are aligned with the coordinate axis. Then say for example, I am drawing the base of the cuboid go to sketcher once after selecting that particular plane xy plane, now we are working on x y where y is perpendicular upwards x is right, positive x is right towards now on this I can draw a rectangle.

This is a simple rectangle. If you want to draw a simple rectangle like this you can write anywhere c I can change these things I can take this anywhere. If I'm selecting a horizontal line, I can drag it horizontally to any anywhere, this option is not there not okay. If I select a vertical line, I can drag this up and down anywhere or I can change the length by dragging it right and left. Those things are available for the for actually that's such a change of length is arbitrary. Say for example, you want exactness, you want you know the dimensions you want exact things, then you can serve that particular one apply constraint dimensional constraint.

So here it is. 138 say for example, you want only 100 so you can set 100. Now this one, it seems to be very bit higher side. Now we want to do have some 50. It is 70. Presently, you can select it Make it as 50 this change is not possible it is possible in AutoCAD in AutoCAD.

Today, once you generate a profile, then you cannot change its dimensions. But here in Katia you can select that particular entity and change it. Now onset is done again you can change if required, say we want 40 You can select and make it 40 No, but I want 50 so I'm making it 50. So, this is one type of rectangle. Say for example, whatever maybe the changes you made to length or breadth you want always this rectangle to be self centered, centered to particular point then this is not the rectangle we want. So, multi select, that means hold the control and select all the points not deleted.

Right in this sketch one, what we want to do is we want to draw a self centered that means sides edges of the rectangle will adjust themselves to pet per se and select here I can select here I can select wherever I click once that will be the center of the rectangle, its length and breadth whatever I will however, I may change always they will be such that they will adjust themselves such that the diagnose intersection of their diagnosis that is the center of the rectangle will be at that particular point. So, I hope that is clear for you. Now, you want to adjust the lens now, you can apply the dimension constraints, line difference double clicking will give you a line definition. Now, see here and point one that means this end point one and point two and point one is at minus 90 from this vertical and it is its coordinate is minus 90 comma but typically it is 50.

So, minus 90 comma 50. This point 90 come off that way. If you want to double select, you want to change this one. If Okay, you want to change this one, double click on it. You can see some definitions here or else you don't want Things to be that much complex, you want to be simple, you understand the simply, then you just select single time you select it, then apply the directional constraint directly, you want just 50 selected you want this to be just hundred selected but see that whatever dimensions I'm giving the length and breadth positioning in this scenario in this plane are adjusting such that this Family Center I selected earlier, they are maintaining a proper ratio proportion such that this particular point that I selected earlier becomes the center of this rectangle. Now, I have that 2d figure profile.

Now, I can develop three dimensional cuboid exit the workbench on this particular profile What is this profile sketch one rectangular profile on this I can apply pad pad means extrude option in other softwares it is adding the metal appeal to the given two dimensional profile, there are different types, multi pad simple pad draft pad, you can by the name itself you can understand simple patterns the walls will be vertical and or the entire profile it is applicable simultaneously if you are having the same sketch two different two separate profiles completely then you can apply multi pad draft pad will give you the vertical not vertical walls but the walls are having certain inclination with respect to vertical Say for example, while making mold in castings you know this concept Hawai we need to have draft angle on the vertical walls. So, one who has passed out those subjects in the first year bachelor's engineer of engineering will understand what I'm trying to tell.

So, let us see him simple pad only. Now on the Select in jet direction, what is the length or what's the height of that cuboid I want say for example, I want 40 What is the skip by default it is that sketch which on which I am applying pad Say for example, it was not highlighted it was white. Now I want to apply pad this box will appear. Now, they see that in selection there is no profile is selected. Now, if you want to select this certain without selecting the profile this okay will not be highlighted and you cannot apply that pad definition that means you cannot apply the material. So, to do that first you need to confirm what is the profile on which you want to apply the material.

So, profile Say for example, it is getting highlighted can select like this or else Or else you can also select it by going here to sketch for example, say select pad. There is no selection here. Go to sketchier Now, you're applying pad to this particular sketch, note to whatever extent you want you can give other padding Say for example, you want 40 mm to do or to add material in a direction about the xy plane in a single direction, this is the direction it is being shown, then you can directly apply like this, this is what you something you will get. One beauty of it is you can change that dimensions or make corrections once you have generated the part. So, as for example, I don't want total 40, I meant to be about this xy plane, this is the xy plane. This is the xy plane.

This is accepting all the 14 mommies about this. So, I don't want that I want them to be about xy plane, and 10 one two below. So I want to make corrections I can double click on that particular entity, or else I can select the same thing from here also double clicking on pad one You can go to more there the first limit means, above excerpt and second limit below except in this direction is by default the first limit represents first limit. So, here I want only 30 mm. From that you can see normal to the profile means, this is the profile sketch or profile that we had on sketch one normally that the directions will be up and down this direction. This direction that I am specifying here is subjected to both first limit and second limb that means upwards and downwards total things right, this applicable to both.

Now, once that is done, we can set preview and preview see from this is xy plane, our profile from the 13th level from the 10 mm below right. So, that is how we can apply pad option for this. Sometimes you may also understand otherwise you want zero only JIRA only here you want 30 mm above expert plan and track team and below as well. Since it is by symmetry You need not go to more and do 30 or 30 year you can directly do mirrored extent here right, you can directly select a mirrored extent here than 30 about 30 below by default it will be there if for suppose you want 20 about 20 below or in 15 about 15 or total a highlight should be 3015 above and 15 below, then you can select 15 and a certain extent it will give 15 for Suppose, this 15 above 15 below is not what we want but what we actually require is 30 above and 10 below as our first initial case.

So, then double clicking rectify since 30 about 10 below means it's not a myriad of actions to So, we remove mirror at extinct now go to more and as earliest 10 that is 10 below center Okay. Now this is what we get. Now, you want to check whether it is 30 about Angular plus total 40 is there or not you go to measure option here say it is 14. So, that is how it is. So, it is clear for you all. So, that is how it is this is the cuboid you got that is paired how to add pad I have shown you or how to apply pad.

Now, let us see how to remove material, if you want to remove material along with circular profile that is a circular hole you can directly apply this option. When you select it then nothing is happening there. So, now you need to give a reference surface on which you want to apply that person for example, top surface then on the top surface a hole will try to get applied. Now, you what type up to last blind or have to surface whatever it is say up to last means complete entire length along the length, this particular hole of this particular diameter will be applied at this particular location. Now, say for example, this type unit This is extension to what extent you need to remove material as a whole definition type simple whole that means, top to bottom the cross section will be same Say for example, you want counter board depending on your application depending on your head off for example, this counter board or Counter Strike these things are applied when you are going to fasten using this whole fasten this object to some other using this holds threading will be there inside.

So, in such applications you need a counter board etc. Now, you don't need that thing this shape is not required. So, for silting off the whole boat head, you just want simple whole Now, you don't want position of this hole here say for example, then you can go to positioning sketch, this is the center of the hole. Say for example, from this edge, you want this hole to be at 10 mm distance, but horizontal level L is the same, then select this hold the Ctrl button on your laptop, then select this. Now, you apply this distance or dimension constraint, then you can see when I was told I want say for example 15 mm okay done at 15 am this has several example not just this I have another constraint, one more constraint means, from this point to this edge there should be 20 mm distance, then again select this hold the control button, then select this edge, then apply the constraint and set when Mm.

Now that is the final position of the whole where I want to apply on that particular top surface. No Exit workbench Say for example, you want 15 mm diameter hole so 15 apply okay okay. So that is what you get. Now you want to or you are not able to see how the whole has always generated, click rotate option view you can change the view of the object so, click click rotate or the left click and rollover your rollover under, roll over the cursor on that touchpad of your laptop or if it is a mouse roll over the mouse or move the mouse in this fashion so that you can look over in different perspectives. This you can observe that whole is up to the last right. So rotor, right click left click you have here you left click, hold the left click or left button left click button of the mouse or touchpad for rotating object, the span the span will help you take this object anywhere Say for example, here, here it is not visible properly so you can take it here here or here you can move it, hold the left click button and move it all around the surface wherever it wants to get it to the desired position.

Release the button click but a left click button. Now that is the position. Now for example, the size your you are seeing that is awkward. You want to fit this object to the total screen aspect ratio should be proper. Then you can do like this, select the fit to the screen option. Further if you want to zoom in certain thing, you can zoom in or you can zoom out or you can fit to the screen You can have multiple views isometric, top side bottom everything.

Now again otherwise particular single one you want wherever this compass is that that one will change. So, you want on top one or bottom one. So, that is how you can select many things right. So, those are the different things. So, you can say talk a play okay. So, that way you can have different views.

So, those are different view options Actually, I want isometric like this, I want this like this. So, that is how you can apply a whole removal of material by applying Whole auction Hall feature this features all pad pocket grew hole all are in sketch based features this toolbar. Now, this is a circular contour for the material root material removal, you don't want this circular shape you want some Rectangle Triangle or some other arbitrary shape say for example triangle then this option becomes obsolete. Now you need pocket option before going to pocket option directly you need to draw a sketch a two dimensional gentle generate two dimensional drawing or sketch or profile based on which which will become the contour for the material removal. Sir and unifirst unit for that first you need to select the reference surface about which the whole earth pocket will regenerate itself from this top surface.

On the top surface you need to draw a particular sketch at a particular Question This is going up first it is not visible properly. So, fit to the screen I will apply then it becomes it appears like this. Now draw requires Say for example, I want a triangular hole a triangular pocket. So, for example, this is profile called us This option is called us profile in Katia and other things on other software so, it is called polyline select this at is with single comment, I can draw a single comment I can draw several lines once it is closed automatically it will disappear This option will disappear Okay. Now, this is some arbitrary triangle. So, for example, I have some constraints I know that, this edge is at a distance of 10 mm from this, this word this vertex is at 10 mm distance from this edge, then select this edge insert this vertex, hold the control key select this edge And then apply the constraint.

So, for example 10 are already 10 So, I need not change anything. Now, I also know that this vertex is at a distance of 20 mm from this edge, then I will adjust it to 20 I also know that this length of the side our side of the triangle this side is say for example 15 mm then I will adjust it to be 15 So, that way I will adjust its dimensions. So, this is set 20 So, I can adjust that as well 20 I double click on it and adjust whatever value you want 20 So, that say for example, this edge of the side of the triangle should be at a distance of 30 mm or 20 mm from this edge, so, double click on it and make it 20. So, that is how you have fixed its position of This particular geometry now, that is the final thing.

Now you need to apply pocket. So, in our pocket will ask you the options up to the last up to the last or you want to go up to certain depth then you select dimensions up to next or up to last minutes till the next to surface wherever the material exists up to that point the pocket will get created. Say for example, you don't want that pocket to be or remove material to be removed up to the last you want it to be say for example only 15 mm then select 15 what is the profile or contour of the pocket sketch for this is the sketch for that is highlighted apply okay. So you are unable to see properly rotated and see it. So it is 15 mm depth. Now, if you want to change it, one more good thing about Katie is you can change or alter or make corrections in the already generated geometry and double click to select this pocket, I can either go to the specifications three and select here initially specific specifications three might be like this, you have to expand it expand it each and everything here to expand like this.

Whichever you want to change you can change here I want to change pocket, either double click on it or you can directly double click on here also either way you will get this box here you can select Say for example, you want up to last up to last. Then okay means complete depth or up to complete depth material is removed. Observe here, see here, complete depth material is removed. Right. So hope you understood how to apply pocket and pad options. And anyway, I have explained your whole option also.

In the next class, we will finish off this a shaft grew rib etc If possible we can finish off this a slot also. So four options shaft, Guru rib and slot these things we will deal in the next class because these things this 123456 or seven, this seven things are generally in that mostly used to things our whole pocket and pad in sketch based which others are minimally used. Okay, so let's meet in the next session. Thank you
