I know a group of executives who lost very high-level jobs in an economic downturn. They had all reached the apex of their careers, just below the CEO level. Many years later, only a few of them recovered and started new jobs in the same industry or pivoted to new careers. The reason is that even at this high level, job seekers have to keep at it. of those executives barely searched for jobs at all (maybe a few phone calls to friends in high places)...thinking they'd be scooped up by other employers. (Didn't happen.) Some were angry that they had lost their jobs and couldn't get past that anger. But one or two just got up every morning and spent entire days strategizing, researching, making new connections, asking for advice&mdash;and, most importantly&mdash;being humble and never giving up. The ones who never gave up are the ones who found lucrative, challenging and interesting new jobs. This illustrates the fact that no one&mdash;even the big movers and shakers&mdash;can escape...
