Hi, and welcome to this section of the course. First of all, I want to honestly congratulate you for making it thus far into the course, you just reached the superhero level section of this course. And again, I want to honestly congratulate you for making it this far. Second of all, as you might know already, I am using Windows 10 for this course. And since we are in the Excel dedicated section, I am using an office 365 license for my Excel operations. And speaking about Excel.
In this section we are going to work with XLS x Excel workbooks, which are available since the launch of Microsoft Excel version 2007. The workbook that you're seeing on the screen right now will be used across this section for many testing tasks, and of course for learning how to automate these tasks using Python and a dedicated module which is called Open view. Excel. And speaking about this module, let's go ahead and install it first. So let's open the windows CMD and just type in Python dash m pip install and the name of the module open Vy Excel. Of course, you should make sure that your internet connection is up and running before issuing this command.
I'm going to hit Enter. And since I already have this module installed, it says requirement already satisfied. So I'm not going to go through the process of installing this module once again. However, in your case, the download and installation process should begin and also should complete successfully. In order to verify if this module was indeed successfully installed. We are going to open up the Python interpreter and just going to use import, open bi Excel.
And as you can see, no errors have been returned. The module has been imported successfully. So the installation is now complete. Two more things I want. To add here, first of all, you're going to find this Excel workbook attached to this lecture. So, you can download it and then use it for our tests further on in the following lectures.
And second of all, also attached to this lecture is the official documentation of the open Excel module. In case you need additional methods and functionality from within this module apart from what we are going to discuss throughout this section. Okay, so having that said in the next lecture, we are going to start working with our Excel workbook and the open pi Excel module. See you soon
