DESCRIPTION:
I would like you to begin this activity by writing down what physiology you have experienced when you have been distressed in the past and what physiology you may be experiencing now if you are feeling distressed.
This list comprises your early warning system. Now write down what physiology you have experienced when you were in eustress [good stress]. When your physiology is healthy and functioning well you are in eustress and you should focus on thoughts and actions which assist with maintaining that state.
When your physiology is unhealthy or not functioning well, it indicates you are distressed and it is time to do something about it. With this list, you can learn to listen to your physiology and make adjustments to how you think and what you do much earlier, rather than waiting until you are extremely distressed. It is far easier to make changes when you are not feeling deeply distressed, so it is worthwhile identifying the signs and acting as early as possible.
