Tool 3 is exactly about leveraging this trait and having you talk yourself into your new habit. Each time you hear yourself say: "I am building a habit of" you will find yourself more committed to doing your action today.
The most important part of tool 3 is to utter your habit out loud.
The psychology in this is you have expressed a commitment, albeit to yourself, you will want to deliver on it. And tool 3 is about using this dynamic to build a good habit and thereby bring you closer to your goal.
Note, it is less important who it is you tell about your habit, it can be your spouse, friends, colleagues, children, pets, or a tree in the forest. This tool is not reliant on any external party following you.
Building a good habit deliberately is a journey whereby you leverage commonly hold biases and psychological hacks to anchor the desired behavior which with enough repetitions will become a habit.
