For short film composers are relatively easy to find. Since it's technically a short film, most composers can do the work for little to no cost at all. Also, they can be remotely based so that your world is literally your oyster. So in that sense, how do you start finding your composer? A good question to ask yourself is what kind of style of music are you looking for? If you have an idea in mind, or any reference tracks and samples online, collect them and send them as references or additional information your composer could use to create the original tracks for your shots.

Of course, make sure to also give them the rough or final cut of the film so that they have a good visual and reference to compose the music too. Now, if you have a bounce sheet, or list of each shot or scene and what kind of music and music references you would want in that scene, that would be useful. For example, I mean this balance sheet right here with written information in details per shot for both sound, and music tracks. Of course, depending on your shot and how much original content you desire. You might even consider simply purchasing royalty free tracks, other rights to certain popular or unpopular music tracks. Just make sure you customize enough of it to your own needs so that it doesn't sound like a template.

Alright, now on to some demos. You see, I had a bunch of composers submit their work to me, so I had to select the one which best fits my style film. Here are just some of the trial works and tracks Okay as a second one When we went for Mark French for the entire shot, since he had the most suitable style, fit the story to be told. Of course, there is no reason that you should not keep in touch with all the composers for your current shot, because you will never know when you might work with them again in the future in your next short film. Speaking of the next short film project, congratulations with the visual effects, sound editing, and music done. You are now more or less hopefully ready to start exporting your final video and start sharing your story with the world.

In the next lesson, we will cover exactly how to do that and how I did it for my short film The painter. And as we've all lessons, feel free to post and share your music tracks with everyone by creating a post on a q&a board.
