Hello, it's Lia muster again. And this is module eight of interview experts and profit. And this is the really exciting module. I cannot wait to get stuck in and share this module with you. Because this is all about doing the actual interview, to everything that you've done up until this point, has all been building up to this amazing moment where you finally get to get on that call, and talk to those experts and get all that nitty gritty information for your listeners. And I love it.

I love all this stuff. And this is my favorite part of the whole process. Although I love doing the research. I'm a big researcher. I couldn't wait to get on and do the interviews. It was really really awesome experience.

So super important. One of my favorite little words I keep saying throughout this training program, is you always need to carry out a test run before every interview. Now I always did this with my brother, my brothers, my business partner, and we had such a laugh doing this so you can grab a family member or a friend and do a test run, call up that person on Skype. Have a laugh, fool around, it really is quite funny. But it's really, really important that you do a test run to make sure your Skype is working. And to make sure more importantly that your call recording software is working now with Pamela doc dot biz that I told you about in the previous module that is installed correctly should start automatically at the beginning of every Skype call.

So all the bits before the call like when I started doing the calls, we had a bit of a conversation first had a little chat about how the interview is going to pan out. I basically explaining I want to do this on a huge a bit of an introduction, then I'll bang out the questions and then you can promote your product at the end. But don't worry about that it will record all of that but you will be able to edit that all out at a later date. So as long as it records the whole call, don't faff around trying to just record the bit where you actually do Talking, that all comes in the editing process which I cover in a module further down the line, but you just want to make sure that the whole call is recorded. Because that's really important because you don't want this awesome interview that you're going to be doing to not be recorded to always carry out a test one.

And as I said, it can be quite fun. I did it before every one of my interviews, I did six interviews, and me and my brother always had a laugh doing it was quite funny. So again, make sure you contact your guests the day before to confirm they're still happy to go ahead. You can even if it's if you're not doing the interview to later on in the day or the evening like I did, sometimes, I would sometimes contact them the same morning, which could be even more effective because you're contacting them on the actual day of the interview. Pumping them up, making sure they're ready. So either the day before, or you know on the day depending on what time your interviews are planned for.

And always send the questions in advance. Always give them the questions so they can prepare what they want to include and say now although they're experts in their field, you know, they want sometimes they like doing off the cuff interviews and they can be really, really good. But a lot of the time they like to be prepared. They want to know what you're going to ask them so they can prepare what they're going to answer. You know, they are just as much in this to give you a lot of value for your customers and your listeners. So they want to be prepared and make sure they're giving you the best quality information and expert knowledge that they can.

So I would always send more questions in advance. I actually sent them on my initial message. Not the initial first message, but the message when they agreed that they were going to do the interview. When I messaged back say thanks, and I'm super excited. I always attached the questions there. So they've got them.

They've got plenty of time to look over them and get together everything that they want to tell, you know on the interview. And make sure you have your questions on the screen don't have paper questions because you don't want all the wrestling and the distractions because it's noisy. Have your questions I just had them on a notepad on my screen right there in front of me but When you're actually doing the call, you don't need to use your screen for anything. It's all done, sort of behind the scenes unless you're doing even if you're doing like a video, it's only recording like a video of that Skype call, but have them on a notepad or something on the screens that you have easy access to them. So you know what you're going to be asking your expert. The last thing you want to do is be sat there, I mean an hour in trying to find a bit of paper of what question you're answering next.

It looks really unprofessional. It makes for a bad interview. So just have them on the screen in front of you and make sure you keep track of what question you're answering as well and asking, because that could be quite embarrassing if you ask them question one and then you forget where you you are and you end up asking them question nine. So you could have a bit of paper and a pen and just write down. You know what number question you're on but do it quietly. So you will be nervous.

This is natural and normal. If you weren't nervous, it wouldn't be normal. You know, you're speaking to someone which you may not have spoken to before. It can be nerve racking and scary experience. But it's also an amazing experience. And you're putting this product together to give value to your customers and to your listeners.

But it's also an awesome experience for you, you're going to get to learn loads from it. But it is nervous it is, you know, I was proper nervous when I was doing them. Not so nervous, the more I did, but the first one or I was waiting myself, I was really nervous, but it was all worth it. It made for a really good interview. And you'll find that once you get a few minutes in and you get a few questions in, you become more comfortable and they you know, the experts are nervous as well, they might not have spoken to you before. You know, it works both ways.

So you'll both feel more comfortable and it'll feel more natural, you know, two or three questions into the interview. So don't worry about that. It'll all be fine, and be friendly and polite and upbeat as well. I'm quite an upbeat person that comes across in my interviews. I'm lucky because the experts I interviewed were really upbeat as well, but how you sound will come across in the interview if you sound really miserable and down. That that's not sound very nice.

And it's certainly not going to sound nice for your expert either who's trying to put together this interview and give lots of value. And it's certainly not gonna be very nice for your listeners, either that they want someone who's upbeat, friendly, you know, polite, it just makes it all flow better. And try not to have any awkward silences might be a bit awkward, especially when you first start the interview. But it shouldn't happen if you know what questions you're asking and you're prepared. And it will be the same for the experts. You know, they're experts for a reason.

They're going to be well prepared, they're going to have the questions there and what they want to say as well up on their screen. So if you're both prepared, it should be absolutely fine and there should be no awkward silences. Don't say too many arms and ours. You know, the last thing you want is an interview where so many arms and arms I had to cut a few out in some of my head edit a couple out not just for me but from some of my experts as well. But some people naturally speak like that and that's okay a few times and ours are okay is it's natural. You don't want to be cutting them all out, because then it's going to sound really unnatural.

Because, you know, you want it to sound a free flowing conversation style interview. So you want to have as if you were just talking to a friend sit in a pub. And just remember, they're normal people just like you and me, don't put them on a pedestal and think that they won't want to give you a decent interview. Because they're not like that they're there to give value, they're going to get something back out of it as well, you know, they're probably going to get a copy of the interview to share with their audiences if that's something that you agreed at the beginning so they've got just as much to invest in it as you have. So just treat them like a normal person. they'll treat you like a normal person, and it will all come good in the end, and they won't want to come across bad and they'll give you their all they really will.

They don't want to come across bad at the end of the day. This is free promotion for them. You're going to be selling this and giving it to their audience. They're gonna be within your product forever. Because once you've created this product, you're going to be able to sell it over and over forever. So then it Give it their all that they want to be put in a good light, because you're going to be selling your product and putting their name out to all your audiences.

And then people that buy it from you might be doing the same and putting it out to their audiences. So, you know, they're going to give them all and they they're not going to want to come across as bad. For them, it's all about getting their name out there even more to help more people. That's what's really important to them, you know a lot if you get a good expert within their field. If you if you've ever met any experts personally, if they're truly passionate about what they do, all they want to do is share their knowledge and expertise and their experiences. So a good experts all about getting their name out there and giving value to people and that's what they want to do.

So as I said, you want to make sure you record the call using the Pamela software, super important. You don't want to forget it because you only get one chance. So you want to welcome them onto the call. So when you record it, you want to welcome and say, Hey, this is Chris, you know he's from blah, blah blah.com. You know, really good. Great to have them on the call.

I'm honored to be interviewing you. And just you know, give them a really lovely, warm and friendly welcome because it will start the interview off, it will give them a boost and it will just make everything flow nicely instead it off to a good start. Then you want to introduce who they are and what they do. Now, you can either do this yourself and introduce them. Or you can do what I did. And what I did was I let them take over and explain it because I thought they were going to explain their story and what they're about and what they've done a lot better than I'm going to do.

So I basically just said, Look, this is Chris, because I interviewed Chris Farrell, a top internet marketing guru. This is Chris Farrell. Really awesome, lovely guy. I've met him. He's super cool. He's got some really awesome stuff to share with you.

So Chris, I'm gonna let you take it away. And if you can just tell our audience a little bit about yourself and what you're all about. And and that's what I did. I let them take over the call for a few minutes explain their story because I think it sounds really nice. Coming from them, and people buying your products or wanting to listen to them, they're not wanting to listen to you. So I think it's a really great way to do it.

And let them talk for a few minutes about themselves as I just explained what they've achieved, where they're up to their story. Everybody loves to know about people and where they came from, and how they got to where they are. Now, everybody loves a story, we just can't resist it. You know, we, we all we're not boring people. We want to know people's backgrounds and how people got to where they are and how people have become successful. They're experts for a reason they've become successful for a reason.

And everybody wants to know that story. So it's, you know, it's really great to let them take over and do that. Make sure you say thank you regularly throughout the interview, say I'll often the content is that I giving because this will give them a boost. You know, every so often just say, you know, Chris, I'm really loving this. I know the listeners are gonna really love this, you know, I can't believe the value that you're giving here. Just give them a boost regularly because, you know, it just again sets the interview out really well and let your listeners know No and the expert when you're coming to your final questions, they know it's almost time to wrap up.

This is really important. You know, if you're sat there through an interview, it's great when you get sort of question nine out of 10, like I did, and I'm like, ah, Chris, I'm quite sad Actually, I've had a really great time on this call with you. But, you know, we're coming to a final question up next, and it prepares your interviewee. You know, your interviewee that they're coming to the end because they get wrapped up in everything they're doing, talking about all the great stuff they're giving, and it lets your listeners know Oh, yeah, great. One last question. So it's really great way to do that.

And then always thanked them for their time at the end. You know, it's really important to thank them at the end, for everything that they've given. You really want to do that. That's really, really important. So talk slow and let them speak and do most of the talking. You want to do this.

You want to be talking slow. Making sure you get Question out clearly so that your expert can hear and your listeners will be able to hear on the recording, and let them do most of the talking. Like I said a moment ago, people are buying the product because they want to hear what the expert has to say. That's not to say that you've got to keep streaming, not say anything, because you want to have a conversation. And you want to have your opinions and stuff in there. But it's mainly letting them talk and getting all their strategies and methods and tips out and everything that they want to give because that's what they've agreed to come on and do the interview.

And that's what your listeners are going to want to pay for. As I say, after all people are going to be paying to their knowledge and expertise. So let them give it and this is really, really important. Listen, listen and listen and be 100% focused and present on the call. There's no point sitting there just asking your question then drifting off going on to social media checking your phone, you need to be listening to what they say because they might come back and ask you a question. They want you to interact with them.

So you need to be giving it your all giving hundred percent focus And be present on the call because it'll really be noticeable if you're just banging out the question. And that's it and you're not saying anything else you're not listening or taking in what they're saying. So really be focused on that call. After all, it's only going to be for 30 to 45 minutes, they, the experts are taking time out of their day to give you this interview, nine times out of 10 for free, the least you can do is be 100% present and listen to everything they have to say. And don't interrupt them either. This will just come across as rude.

It'll annoy them, which will come across in the interview. It'll annoy your listeners, just don't interrupt them, let them finish and then chime in with whatever you want to say. And ask if they have anything else to add at the end. You know, is there anything else they want to add in they might have picked up something written something down throughout the interview that they think I really want want to add this in as well to give them the opportunity to say an ad anything else that they would like to at the end that's really important and just go for it. Put your all in as Remember, you're doing the interviews once, one time, you've got to do these interviews for you to sell over and over again for years to come. So make it count.

You know, you've only got to do it the ones put it in, you're all for that 30 to 45 minutes, give it your all be upbeat, be friendly, be enthusiastic, give me a little ask the questions. You know, you know, just really make it a really great interview I did. This was mine. I mean, I love doing my interviews anyway, I had really awesome people really awesome content, but it will really show if you're in the moment present in the interview and you're really enjoying it, just thank them at the end, give them another opportunity if they want to promote their products as well and get links etc. That's a really awesome thing to do. And finally, just be respectful of their time and stick to the agreed interview length.

The last thing you want to be doing is running over taking up too much of their time it's just taking the Mick so don't want to stick to the the timings. Be respectful of their time, because you never know whether you're going to need to speak to them again. In the future. So that's it for modulae. I hope you've enjoyed this really awesome module, my favorite module, all about the actual interview. I'll see you in module nine.
