Have you ever had the feeling that you could have handled a situation better? wanted to turn a mistake or obstacle into a learning opportunity? Try to make sense of an experience and wanted to figure out how best to respond to it had an important decision to make and wished you had a way to think it through. If you answered yes to any of these questions, this course may be helpful for you. Hi, my name is Carol Casey. Welcome to my course on critical reflection.

I hope you find it useful and interesting. First, I'll tell you a little bit about me and how I got to be interested in the subject. I am a nurse that degrees in German Technology and adult education, so you can tell that I like to think and learn. When I first heard about critical reflection, I was enchanted, and excited about the possibilities. I felt that if I'd known about it earlier in my career, I would have done less angsting and more developing from my formative experiences, especially my mistakes. It's taken me some time to come to terms with the fact that I'm not perfect.

To be quite honest, it's an ongoing struggle. To complicate matters further, not only am I not perfect, but no other person or system is perfect either. I found that the best way to cope with this fact is to acknowledge that no matter who we are for what we do, there's always room for learning and for reflection on how we can improve. That's where critical reflection comes in. While many people associate critical reflection with professions such as teaching Nursing, I feel it can be a benefit to anyone. Whatever your age, life path or circumstances are, it can help you learn and grow both personally and professionally.

In this course, I will explain what critical reflection is, why it's important and how to apply it to your life. You will learn a simple critical reflection model and we will look at several others that may suit your unique needs better. And I will also provide some information on conditions and resources that can nurture your critical reflection practice ongoing. So let's begin the adventure.
