DESCRIPTION: Leaving your puppy for the first time can be very hard for both. My advice here is to always plan so if you know within the next couple of weeks you are going to have to leave your puppy, then really build up to that point when you can leave them. Also bear in mind, and try and have a plan in place just in case the pup isn't okay being left. We often assume that within a couple of weeks we'll be able to leave our puppy for two, or three hours, but actually, this isn't always the case and many puppies. If I'm honest, after about an hour I will need someone to come and see them for the first couple of weeks at least. Then after that, it can slightly get longer but it can take a long time for some puppies to be okay being left alone. What can happen if they are left and it becomes quite traumatic for them is it can cause something called separation anxiety, which can be quite traumatic again for you and your dog.
