DESCRIPTION: What: Here we are going to start to teach the puppies to come to us when we call. Why: Recall is one of the most important things to teach your puppy, you never know when you will need it. Recall can be used to prevent a lot of unwanted behaviors such as running off, not coming back, approaching something dangerous or eating things they shouldn’t on a walk or in the home. You will need a reliable recall to find them if they seem to disappear in your home or garden. How:

Grab some treats (or you can use their own food)
Place food in your hand
Walk backward
Say 'Come' (only once)
Feed from your hand

Tips: Recall is super easy to teach, however you can very quickly poison recall as well. Always reward recall when you ask your dog to come to you. If they recall and rather than reward them you try to put their collar or harness on, or put them in their crate, etc, then you can quickly punish the recall and this then makes it less likely they will recall next time.
