DESCRIPTION: What: Teaching your dog a positive association with their name. Why: We very quickly wear our dog's names out within the first few days. You will use their name, in various tones to mean different things. For eg. "Scrappy" could mean: "Scrappy" Get away from that "Scrappy" Get down from there "Scrappy" Come here And then you may just say it randomly during the day, if there is more than one of you in your household imagine the different tones your puppy will hear that one word in. Therefore we want to create a positive association with their name. How: Grab some of their food or some treats. Call their name once When they look around at you then mark the behavior ('Yes' or 'Good') Reward your pup Keep doing this throughout the day randomly (unless they are asleep) Tips: Only ever say their name once, if they don't look at you then wait a couple of minutes and try again.
