DESCRIPTION: For this exercise you will need a Mat, or Bed, preferably something new they haven't seen before. You can use a towel, or anything you may have lying around to start this, we do recommend getting a soft mat if you can so you can teach them to settle on their mat, and then you can take this mat out and about with you. What: Mat Settle - Teaching our dogs to settle nicely on a mat. Why: There are a number of reasons for teaching this exercise, the main one for me is for comfort, having something with their scent on can really help them in different situations and help them to feel more secure, for example if you take them into a pub or cafe, having a blanket or mat with their scent on will help them to feel content.
