Life is full of minor distractions that pull us off center. Today, my meditation practice turned out to be a metaphor for life's interruptions. For instance, as I settled in, and close my eyes, I was interrupted by an extremely loud frog outside my window. Then I was interrupted by the phone. Meanwhile, the seconds on my 20 minute timer were ticking away. The third interruption was the buzz of a neighbor's lawn enter.
These were not subtle interruptions, they were clamorous. So what to do when your best laid plans go awry the next time This happens, I'll incorporate the sounds into my meditation. By making sound the focus of the meditation. I'll simply focus on whatever I'm hearing, I'll make it a sound meditation. Sometimes in life, we have to make adjustments and work with the interruptions instead of fighting them. We're creative creatures, there's always a way.
Do not be anxious about anything. but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Jesus Christ. Philippians chapter four verse six, seven
