Active copy. In this video I'm going to show you what active cupping is all about. It's kind of like really fast flash cupping, that the client actively stretches or the cups are still on. I'll be demonstrating it on the rotator cuff muscles. You can easily replicate this method on the lower extremities. Start with a client prone.
Place three to five larger medium sized cups around the rotator cuff muscles and guide the client to raise their arm above their head and have them actively move their arm without your assistance. Coach your clients to try and keep their arm straight when it's extended. After two to three active stretches, release the cups and reposition them to fill in the gaps meaning the spots that haven't been covered After the treatment, smooth out the shoulders light Swedish massage strokes draining toward the armpit. You can also perform active copying during flash company, prompt the client to move their arms over their head as if they're Superman, and then have them return their arms to their side and bring their shoulder blades together. You couldn't have them do this several times.
