Well, here it is. Jasmine has been writing her speech and we'll see and hear it in just a few moments. As she delivers her speech will flash up on the screen what's going on the things that we've told you about in previous videos. You might want to watch this speech a few times to make sure that you get familiar with the techniques. So here's Jasmine's deliver her speech titled communicating using social media. Social media is an incredible way to get people to express themselves.

Have you been hashtags retweeted or light? Have you been trending or joined WhatsApp used Instagram or even had your own YouTube channel? Well, if you answer yes to any of these, then you will undoubtedly be familiar with social media. But if you don't know what I'm talking about, then please listen and be enlightened. I'm going to tell you about how social media has produced a communication channel, unlike anything that we have seen in the past. I will tell you how it has enhanced people's lives and given businesses access to consumers on a scale that has never been seen before.

And I'll tell you how, in some cases, it's been hijacked by the forces of evil. Whether it be via Facebook status, writing on wards, Twitter updates, photos, you share those already. extensions of you and your personality. They help portray your interest, your views, and show people who you are. They offer a platform for you, to be yourself, to be creative, to be who you want to be, and most importantly, have an audience for all of this. Unlike in the real world, where social etiquette and manners can sometimes seem restrictive, and limiting, people feel that they have a greater sense of freedom of expression, and of speech when using online networks.

Of course, content is monitored and can be removed, but with millions of users on sites such as Facebook and Twitter, even YouTube. Not every single photo Comments can be watched, evaluated and completely controlled. This has arguably led to a rise in expressions, feelings and ideas from people who may otherwise find it hard to portray how they would like to be in person and face to face with others. Essentially, social media has changed the way that we are able to communicate and behave not only in groups and society, but with each other. What are the possible consequences of this new found or at least newly perceived freedom of expression for people who find it difficult to interact with others in person, the internet is gives them a great way of communicating and not having to feel self conscious or nervous. Everyone has the right to say what they think, and they feel.

So this is a good way for those less confidence to make their stand. It provides a level playing field if you like. When someone feels confident and happy, they can express themselves more eloquently and possibly even gained themselves a wider audience, which they may otherwise have found difficult to achieve. So for our course, you don't have to stand in front of hundreds of people and talk if you find that hard when you can sit at home behind a screen screen and deliver your speech. Whether it is personal or business, such as marketing, you can get your news and views out there. Arguably, it is just as or even more effective than a conference room.

The power of the retweets or like buttons should not be singled out. This means that the story or a view of a shy individual can reach a larger audience than it might do if they were stood in front of you, making this type of media particularly effective Social media can help you be yourself and invoke confidence in those who need it. This is because you are not having to face personal and intimate criticism, or no, because you don't have to see anyone who may be critical of you. You don't on this course. written comments can inspire healthy debates, as you have time to compose yourself, whereas people criticizing you in person, well, this can be difficult, because you tend to panic and it causes you to be defensive. I think that everyone deserves to have confidence in themselves, and their beliefs and networking can help inspire and educate people in this This level of freedom does have its drawbacks.

People with more fundamental or perhaps morally questionable views than your average Joe can call stirs and discomfort. Now, people have the right to believe in what they want. But when they express those more extreme views, or attack other people, whether it's sexism, racism, for example, that offense can be taken and problems begin. On a personal aspect, social media can be used for internet bullying and victimizing. It gives people the opportunity to upset and gossip 24 seven online bullying is a very serious problem, and it shouldn't be overlooked or dismissed. The victims of bullying at school for example, they would like to go home, they would like to escape.

But when they go home and they switch on their computers, they are faced with more endless hurtful words. What conclusions can we draw? Social media is a gift. It can be used to make or break a business. It can also make or break a person. The truth is the moral problems about freedom and expression in realized, can now be applied to the virtual world.

Whether we like it or not, or even agree with it. Social media is liberal enough to be good for people to express themselves and find themselves. But we should always be aware that it's also liberal enough to provide a soapbox for less appropriate beliefs. Social media can do a lot for you. Be aware, but be aware. Thank you, Jasmine.

We hope that you gained a lot of information about the construction and signposting of her speech I'm sure you will have picked upon a few other things such as her use of language, the way she uses her voice, the way she used her notes, and the way she used her body language and eye contact. These are important techniques. And now that we've looked at how a speech is put together, in the next few modules, we'll spend some time introducing you to language notes and how you actually deliver a speech.
