Last time guy did his best to cause death by PowerPoint. And Jasmine showed us where he went wrong. You can do much better than that. And this video guy and I are going to show you how a little later guy give a presentation on the same subject as before, but this time you'll do it properly. But first of all, I want to share some tips with you on best practice when giving a presentation. These are the do's rather than the don'ts.

First of all, do remember the rules of public speaking still apply to presentations. Do keep it simple. Did you use the slides as highlights of the presentation, they should support the presentation rather than lead it. Do familiarize yourself with the equipment. do spend some time if at all possible in setting up the equipment properly. beforehand.

Otherwise, you'll unsettle the audience by fiddling around with computers and projectors, extension leads and all the impediments here of technology. Do check the internet connection before us if there is one. If you plan to use the internet as part of your presentation, remember the internet connections can be lost while you're speaking. So have something up your sleeve in case that happens usually, a backup copy on a memory stick without the internet dependent slides. do have the presentation program and your presentation open on the computer before you start. Otherwise, you spend the first few minutes clicking through computer files.

Do use your imagination in preparing interesting, properly formatted slides. PowerPoint is so easy to use, it often leads to very poor slides. Do try to begin with a blank slide or your company logo showing why you introduce things before you show your first slide and have a blank slide after your last presentation slide so that your audience doesn't see your computer desktop Do you make sure you spell punctuate and use grammar correctly, audiences are very adept at picking up mistakes they see written in front of them. Do have a backup copy of your presentation on a memory stick. And finally, do have a plan B. If the equipment failed, you'll have to give a normal speech.

That's a pretty comprehensive checklist. Now let's see guy put these all together as he demonstrates a good presentation. Over to you guy. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to TP electrical limited. I'll be giving you handouts about the company after the presentation so please don't worry about taking notes. Have you ever wondered what makes your indicator flash when you're driving your car around the corner?

Or how police cars blues and twos work? Probably not. But at TP we care about it a lot. And that's because we build electrical wiring harnesses that connect all of the electrically operated items in a vehicle to this central control box. The vehicle computer. TP was started in 1985 by Tony Jones and Peter Smith.

Hence the name TP. They started in a small premises in bloxwich just outside warthog, and their first customer was the London Underground. Within 10 years, the business had sales of 800,000 and employed 25 staff. It was at this point that one of TPS customers, mg Bailey limited a manufacturer of electrical control equipment bought the company. Making wiring harnesses is a labor intensive process, which involves cutting wires to length, then laying them on a board mounted templates. Various connectors are then added to the wires which are finally bound together to produce a loom or a harness.

Three years after TP was bought by Angie Bailey, the business began to flounder and Peter Smith bought the harness building section back up and Bailey and started another TP electrical business. The second coming of TP wasn't very successful. And in 2002 Peter Smith sold the company to his son, Steve Smith. Steve moved the business to a rented property morsel comprising 7000 square feet and built the sales back to 1 million by 2007. Today, the company's in a custom built industrial unit, enjoying sales of 3 million, employing 42 staff with aspirations of 6 million within the next three years. TP currently builds wiring harnesses for the automotive and rail sectors, which include the following types of vehicles, buses and coaches, mini buses, police cars, ambulances, fire engines, train carriages and specialist vehicles.

For more information about how TP can help with the success of your business Please visit our website@www.tp electrical co.uk I'm sure you notice the difference. These are things you should take on board. And once you have, they become second nature and you will always give good presentations. No more death by PowerPoint
