If he can correctly respond to your cues when you are sitting and standing, try lying on the couch. Can he do it, or do you need to reteach?
Step 2: Dog sits near an open inside the door, bathroom, bedroom, etc. See if your dog can sit in a slightly more distracting location. Does he anticipate you going into the next room, or does he pay attention to your cue and sit?
Step 3: Dog sits in every room of the house. Start with the less distracting rooms, then move on to...
